Vidushie Shriya Kandoi
Born in 1988 in the cookie-cutter framework of a small town in India, Vidushie’s preferred form of self-expression, even as a little child, was art. Vidushie attributes her eclectic, pop and surrealistic style to her myriad interests and experiences – schooling in Kanpur, India, college in Delhi, summer courses in London, internship at Gensler, Chicago; add to this her overarching love for travel, music, theatre, architecture, and even food.
Her biggest artistic inspirations remain Salvador Dali, MF Husain, Andy Warhol. Like the greatest of artists, she allows her fingers to express the innate curiosity with which she approaches the world around her.
An architect by education from the prestigious School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Vidushie’s eye for spaces and compositions led her to a career spanning various architectural and graphic design disciplines before she answered the pressing call of her first love, art.
Her art is as varied as the people who consume it, and spans a gamut of media: from digital to physical, from pop-coloured acrylics to pen and ink, from canvas to hand painted wooden frames.
Her customised, unique and innovative works of art have enhanced residential and commercial spaces in both her home country, India and overseas. She has recently exhibited her work at The India Story, one of the most prestigious art and lifestyle exhibitions held in India.
Vidushie has previously exhibited for Young FICCI Ladies Organisation, and the UnBoxed coworking space, Delhi. She has been featured in print and online media by YFLO and Talenthouse, a distinguished online global art platform. Though primarily working on private residential, and commercial commissions such as her work for Pings Café Orient & SAZ American Brasserie, Kolkata, she also produces mass-market merchandise in her signature, pop style.
Vidushie defines her career as a journey : one of discovery, reinvention and self-expression. Art, for her, is a fascinating contradiction – fluid, yet permanent, capable of encapsulating multitudinous meanings in a single brush stroke. It is so incredibly personal that it serves as an invitation for all its admirers to join her in her journey which is inextricably linked to their own journeys.
