A Personality-filled Daycare Centre | Chalk Design Studio | Gurgaon
Designer Priyanka Singh’s expertise of designing efficient spaces that amalgamate practicality, clean lines and global trends got Gurgaon-based Chalk Studio their latest project—a modern daycare centre in Aerocity Gurgaon. The project was brought to life with playful design elements, splashes of colour and stunning graphics that infuse dollops of quirkiness into the overall décor of the space. Spread across an area of 1,300-square-foot, the daycare centre includes a reception area, breastfeeding zone, play area cum dining space, classrooms and a nap room.
“The main idea was to create a mesmerising ambience and an enticing play cum learning zone which appeals to the fantasies of little children. The space is strategically designed to boost the creativity and fine motor skills of little children. We collaborated with graphic designer – Saumya Mittal for the wall graphics to transforms the daycare centres into a colour happy sanctuary that promotes active learning”, explains Priyanka Singh, Founder, and Creative Head, Chalk Studio
The décor of the daycare centre revolves around a wooden tree and its branches which house a circular desk with a cute and cosy seating. A riot of colours rules the flooring design, the rounded door arches add softness and the graphic patterns against white walls add oodles of character into the space. All the design elements come together to effortlessly weave the space together with a playful flair.
Space is utilised judiciously with creative built-in open shelves and neutral-toned furniture with rounded edges to promote fun, interaction and safety. A whimsical reading nook is scooped out of the wall niche for a good joy read which the children will love and appreciate. The elliptical seating of the classroom combines with faux green grass to add oomph into the learning space.
