Murli Villa | Jitu Mistry & Associates | Anjar
Located on a lavish site at Anjar of Kutch district in Gujarat, India and covering a structural area of 4600 sq. ft, the residence was commissioned by Mr. Jitu Mistri, an Interior designer who wanted a house in which every detail was in harmony with the family’s refined taste.
The ground floor is approached via a subtle entrance that opens into the bright formal drawing room. It also accommodates one informal drawing room, a dining with double height living room with open vertical garden a kitchen, a parent’s bedroom, a prayer space near the kitchen along with a guest bedroom. On the first floor are the son’s and daughter’s bedroom & master bedroom with a small sitting area in room.
The house is an eclectic mix of urban and youthful lifestyle. “The home appeals to the character of the owners and totally matches with their sensibilities,” affirmed Jitu Mistri the interior Stylist of the project.
The exteriors of the house form part of the external landscape while the interiors personify the private world of the residents, lending a unique charm to the overall design of the house. The exposed stone masonry wall, used in the façade,
The design responds to the exposed stone walls, creating a rustic, natural yet modern look. where space is occupied by plants; it is carefully allowed to thrive on the site. Each of the details has been worked out so that it complements the overall language of the design, be it light fixtures or planters.
Textured walls, Italian marble floors with other fine details on the door and full-sized curtains render a grand entrance. Exclusive veneer panels with art work and light fixtures further enhance the volume of the space. Huge sofas adorn the lounge. The formal drawing, informal lounge and dining are all in one space, An Italian marble staircase with woodwork, keeps alive the opulence that lies in the details. The dining & living area is provided with a full glass window opening on the west façade, allowing the spaces to merge into the lush landscape.
Patterns of circulation allow easy connectivity and visually flow between different spaces. The parents’ bedroom on the ground floor is a study in soft pastels and muted, comfortable lighting, achieving an elegance all of its own. Different elements come together in the dress and bath, using well-chosen materials and fixtures to exude opulence.
The master bedroom on the first floor creates a touch of royalty. Bright throws and wooden flooring are also quite warm and pleasurable to look at. It uses a low height bed, interesting furniture and light fixtures to add quirkiness to the interiors.
Succinctly, this enchanting home is nothing short of vivacious, colourful and luxurious.
