The Square Foot | IKIGAI Studio | Pune
The designer says this project is titled with The Square Foot as they have overcome a lot of challenges while designing this compact space. It’s an office space of 800 Sq. ft area for a renowned real estate brand there in Pune. There was lack of floor space and lack of enough height, but we came up with solutions to make the space feel luxurious, which was our brief if explained in one word. With the beams coming as low as 6.5ft clear height, we tactfully managed the design so as to not make the space seem claustrophobic. A comfortable and productive work environment plays a huge role in designing an office space.
The business name sign helps the brand to create visibility to all its customers and random passerby. For which Ikigai Studio designed a sober business name on a wooden textured panel with a floral cutting pattern in the corner and warm light behind which compliments the exterior wall façade. While entering the office staircase wall is ornamented with wooden panelling with groves designed with clients’ work showcases. It’s always a good idea to apply light up signs with letters to decorate the office space. After the staircase, visitors can see the golden sign is blended with the décor of marble and side wood panels which looks elegant and eye-catchy.
Each space in the office has been designed with great precision. Every detail of the furniture has been worked upon so as to form an elegant interior. There was an emphasis on functionality infused with a flair for fine lines. The diagonals of the column resonate on the wall panelling, which in turn reverberates on the furniture, glass partitions, and other interior elements. The selection of pure white paint for the walls enables you to experience the feeling of a big space apart from reality. Keeping symmetry was the keynote, tying everything together and picking clean and crisp lines.
In the Reception area, taking one strong gift from nature like wood, and the other, a strong triumph of marble, was the highlight in the design. To create a space full of clean, crisp lines and a neutral with muted material palette. The warmth and texture of natural wooden elements just sing against the beautiful texture of marble with gold decor, allowing each element a moment in the spotlight. The iconic reception table is captivating and briefs us about the emphasized character of the place with marble and gold decor. The reception area showcases a designer’s magnificent wooden ceiling with coin lights. While the sofa and rug are in contrast and they complement the modern ceiling light fixture.
One wall is décor with building image wallpaper and, opposite of that wall, “inifini prayer” engraved on a shiny panel with golden letters which is highlighted with a spotlight. The chambers share a glass partition with the reception area. These partitions are framed in horizontal wooden panels to attain a clean and sleek look, thus fostering the feeling of openness. The glass partitions with similar patterns separate the required segments without compromising with the space available inside.
Glass partitions in a way that the spaces are visually connected and natural light is allowed into the workspace. Glass partitions with horizontal wood panelling were used to divide the spaces functionally yet maintain visual connectivity of the whole space. The contemporary cabin has a minimal look and feels with importance given to the wooden drawers with a white textured top. Beige upholstered chairs just glorify the cabin with ceiling light fixtures.
While on the other side of the cabin, the staff is designed simply and sober. The use of the colours in the furnishings also renders a fresh and vibrant feel to the muted earthy tones of the office space. Due to the white and brown colour combination, the staff area looks broad and compliments the furnishing.
Meeting space, which is separated by a wooden partition and make direct connectivity with the main chamber of the office space. While on the other side of the wall, with a play of grooves creating patterns like a geometric art for storage. The meeting space feels full of life through a bold use of colours, a mix of grey and brown in seating elements. The lavish rectangular table with a grey marble top is a good combination with brown furnishings, while the abstract wall art just adds an elegancy to the space. The meeting room ceiling is highlighted with unique LED light fixtures which also compliment the sittings. The entire office follows a sober colour pallet of hues of brown, which transforms the space into a seamless collaboration of aesthetics and functionality.
The main chamber extravagance is enhanced with wooden flooring, comfortable leather-finished chairs with beautiful and amazing marble top table design with wooden base that looks breath-taking but also represent the design legacy. While back wall is great-looking highlighted with lights to showcases mini-indoor planters, art crafts, calendar, books and well-crafted storage units. All décor of cabin just complimenting the unique design of center LED light fixture. The intelligently designed lighting with sleek and smart-looking lamps gives it a very clean look.
The main cabin is very systematically ordered, increasing the concentration and potential. Due to which it looks more versatile than ordinary cabins. The correct used of lighting and fixtures arrangement adds a spark to an individual perspective and makes it additionally responsive to entire space. The small details, including the decorative elements, were patiently placed by finding the right pieces of craft acquiescing with the overall lingo. To exemplify this, one can observe several mini-statues in the décor. The entire space speaks the language of opulence due to the powerful wooden framework and array of antique pieces, stimulating the effect.
The entire office space is united by the use of glass partition detail with wood and yet uniquely differentiated in its own character. Each cabin functions separately, still being part of the same whole. The designing style of this project is simple and elegant. The layout of The Square Foot interior space is rich and skilful. While the application of material is matured and replete for interior decor. The use of texture, colour, lightning is in click and strong impact for visitors. The interior details are very well-designed and classical, all of which fully show the concise but not simple magnification. Ikigai Studio work celebrates the relationship and interplay of space, light, and material. It is nurturing, enriching, and accessible. Ikigai Studio also noted that Office design is about creating a space that facilitates productive and purposeful work while leaving room for creativity, customization, and personalization. And its shows that “Good design is obvious. Great design is transparent.”
