Sesami – Pan Asian Restaurant | Swati Shah Designs | Mumbai

Swati Shah Designs endeavours to create spaces that are impeccable, richly detailed, timeless — where aesthetics and practicality are dovetailed to connect people to spaces. A fine dining restaurant located at Powai in Mumbai, Sesami – Pan Asian Restaurant was designed to give the user to feel something which is upbeat and happy. The ambience was to be smart, stylish and luxurious. It was artfully decorated with an abstract Japanese Zen Garden, floor-to-ceiling canopy windows and chic leather seats. The ambience immediately adapts a sense of calm and peace within visitors. . With the theme of Yin and yang, it balances all the elements perfectly in the restaurant. The clients approached the Swati Shah Designs Studio with the objective of designing this restaurant, to make it comfortable with a specious look and a luxurious feeling as visitors spend a lot of time with their family and friends.

It has been achieved by innovative use of materials with all elements to give it luxe and a unique layout. Restaurant should be inviting, glamorous yet sensible. Another very important criterion we had to keep in our minds while designing was to comprehensively make the restaurant look distinctive in a way such that its character looks unique compared to other restaurants in its surroundings. So, “Inspired by Japanese minimalism, the interior takes a ‘less is more’ approach, “The design is very restrained.” – Said by The Principal Designer.

With the concept of creating a quirky environment with bold interiors, each portion of the ambience tends to grasp the attention of the visitor. Upon entering, one is welcomed with a unique design scheme of Luxe Reception area, flooring and wall décor with the touch of planters. The iconic reception area is captivating and briefs the emphasized character of the place. The exclusive quirk and design of the wooden wall panel used at the back give it a lively look. A grey textured table with a golden bottom belt and white top compliments the wall décor.

The wooden ceiling lights focus on the decor of the space. The entire restaurant follows the elegant colour pallet of hues of brown on the ceiling and furniture, which transforms the space into a seamless collaboration of aesthetics and functionality. Sesami also features a full-scale bar, lounge area, and a private dining room for special occasions. Black and white pattern tiling with green tiling compliments the interior décor. This thought runs through the design of the space right from the entrance to the entire space.

The artistic bar zone which become an interesting focal point of the whole restaurant. Considering that, the design on the bar counter has been made alluring with the contemporary perforated geometric shapes in which the light emits from within. The wall is highlighted with a backdrop of a mirror on the wall in a contemporary fashion. A vintage style engraved white marble bar table highlighted with golden belts creates an eye catchy look for visitors. Golden hanging bar goblets with planters create the ethnic look and accentuates the white wall decor. Brown leatherette upholstered Bar stool with metal legs compliments the décor.

From the entrance, the wooden ceiling and floor pattern runs in a curved shape and, with the same theme, the dining area is to be designed by a designer team. The dining area consists of wooden tables and cushioned chairs finished in turquoise green and beige tones in contrast to the dark colour palette around the tones. The designer used round and rectangle dining tables to utilise the space and it looks more spacious.  While the red low-heightened partitions are a small move not only breaks the monotony of the furniture arrangement but also helps to have your own privacy while dining. It also exposes the space differently from every table.

The turquoise green embossed walls are highlighted by the wall light fixtures, which looks elegant and accentuate with all furnishings. Even on the bottom of the walls highlighted with golden belts. While fancy pendant lamps that attract curious glances even during the daytime. Large windows allow natural light to fill this beautiful space with brightness while during night the lighting fixture adds charm and calmness to the space. Long White curtains add elegancy and gives a royal look to the entire space and maintain the beautiful outside view.

Swati Shah Designs and team make sure that every corner of the restaurant should be used creatively. While one corner is used for private dining room on special occasions. This space divided with a white framing capsule panel which also breaks the monotony of the colour palate. Wall of private dining area is décor with abstract wallpaper with turquoise green panelling. All the elements accentuate the interior décor with all lighting fixtures.

The Sesami – Pan Asian Restaurant consists of semi-open seating options which is well organised. Different style of lightings illuminating the aura of this serene set-up which invites the auspices atmosphere. A wooden roof envelops this area, which complements the interior décor of the restaurant. Wooden texture flooring and wooden sitting in light and dark tones create a joyful atmosphere. Here it includes lush greens with soft lighting, creating a mystic aura all around. Establishing a separate zone with a completely transformed vibe from the inner dining space.

Designers make sure that each and every element should be complimented by each other. All the furniture is accented with theme of abstract Japanese. Matching the turquoise green dining pads with a theme of curved shape and a lot of effort into the light design and light scene design. While natural tones of wood finish in the furniture and on the ceiling allude to the luxurious ambiance of the restaurant.

Lightings are adding drama to each area with a specific design. The restaurant is illuminated by a diverse range of lighting fixtures that have been specially setup to blend with its surroundings at the same time act as an element of sculpture like hanging lights on the dining tables. The central spine of the wooden ceiling with variations in heights creates a sense of drama in the space. These elements set the rhythm of the customer’s journey and also add vitality to the dining space.
