The Bodhi | Studio MAT Architects | Oshiwara, Mumbai
This beautiful airy 3BHK apartment residence in a 1200 sq. ft., area is nestled amidst the core of Oshiwara, Mumbai. The apartment has a unique & bespoke design style while the client’s liking for warm earthy tones and love for wood throughout the house which was elegantly knotted by Studio MAT Architects. The Bodhi is a perfect blend of modern design with a hint of striking bold colours to accentuate the palette. Minimalism, a muted colour palette, and a few elements come together to make a home that is warm, inviting, and simple. Minimal design elements like – fluted wooden panels, subtle wall art, artistic wallpaper, arches, wooden window panels, and fluted glass. These elements have been composed in each area with care.
The Principal Architects Harsh Soneji and Pratha Bhagat stated that in a bustling, loud, chaotic, and restless Mumbai, a home on the 19th floor of a residential building takes a pause. With an earthy aesthetic, ‘Bodhi,’ uses muted colour, open, airy spaces, and a minimal design language, an oasis of calm and quiet. It is a space to retrieve into, one where rest, relaxation, and comfort take precedence over all else for the family of three. It sets out to be a very breezy, textured, earthy house. Here, less is more.
Entrance
The arched-themed wooden door at the entrance sets an impression of establishing an equilibrium between modernism and decency, which give a unique take on the entrance door design. An elegant modern profile light and signage are highlighting the area. While a stylish wooden shoe rack unit and planter add grace to the entrance. The entrance to the house has an arched doorway, opening into the entry foyer that leads to the living area.
Living Area
The living room has a cool grey tone complimented by the rustic wood panelling that makes the space warm. One of the common ideologies while designing was to keep the feel as serene and simple as possible, crafting a minimal and rustic space. The furniture and decor in the space have their character and attitude. The understated prints of the chair, rugs, bench, and cushions accentuate the restrained shell while the relatively bare backdrop complements the design details. – added by the designers.
A salmon pink modern sofa and contemporary modern lounge chairs add eye-pleasing décor to the living area. While a set of elegant coffee tables and planters creates a good ambience to the interior décor. The fluted wooden panel with a light colour palette wall for a TV unit are accompanied by a wooden floating console unit which is well accentuated with planters.
Dining Area
The dining and Kitchen are connected by a wooden framed window. This creates a play in the spaces and opens the kitchen into the living room as and when required. A sober ceiling design with lighting fixtures identifies the dining space giving it a warmer feeling with a contemporary dining table. A grey marble top dining table with colourful dining chairs and a bench add a luxe factor to the dining area. While the modern wooden crockery unit with fluted glasses creates a special niche for the area.
Kitchen Area
Multifunctional and maintenance-free for The Bodhi’s kitchen with ultra-modern storage systems that are customized to suit the specific needs of the client. The counter length provides ample working space. The built-in appliances make the kitchen efficient and clutter-free. This is a perfect combination of a modern and minimalistic kitchen with ample utility space.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has a tropical feel to it by adding artisanal and hand-painted wallpaper that compliments the wooden accents to the furniture. The brown leatherette bed’s headboard enhances the beauty of the wall’s tropical theme colour palette. The aesthetical wardrobe décor and material details lift and standouts the piece of furniture.
The modern bed and a modern lounge chair accentuate the tropical theme of the bedroom. The selection of curtains and artistic wallpaper emphasizes the décor. Its serene achromatic eye-soothing interiors add elegance to this master bedroom which adds allure to the décor.
Whereas the designer selects a black marble theme for this master bathroom. The stylish mirror and modern furniture setup in this bathroom create a luxurious ambience.
Daughter’s Bedroom
Kids Bedroom has a very suited theme for a 12-year-old daughter. Planning in this tight bedroom is such that it gives ample space for the daughter to explore add or subtract elements- By giving a platform bed and tucked wardrobe. The artistic wallpaper in an arched shape with a pastel colour wall and ceiling compliments the colourful curtains. Floated purple study table and modern chair add charm to the bedroom décor. Even designers follow arched themes for the wardrobe elegantly.
The bathroom wall is décor with blue theme tiles cladding with off-white colour palette tiles. The modern furniture and sanitary fitting compliments the interior theme of the bathroom.
Guest Room
The guest bedroom is kept minimal with a POP of blue. The earthy elements are seen in the form of mandala art on the wall and wooden furniture accents. The bright colour palette for the wall is emphasized with blue panelling and the blue leatherette bed’s headboard adds charm to the interior décor. Designers smartly continue the arched theme on the wardrobe which compliments the modern bed design.
The interior decoration of The Bodhi was designed to have its own personality, free from its surroundings by keeping the clients brief of creating something unique in mind. proportions of shapes, abstract art, and modern forms have been incorporated into all design elements. Every room is ornated with different colours, which forms the contemporary element, as well as enhances the overall interior.
