Tarangan | Rachana’s Opus | Pune
Located in the tranquil surroundings of Bhugaon, Pune, Tarangan is a 1200 sq. ft. residence designed by Rachana’s Opus, where Indian traditional roots meet contemporary living. Conceived as a calm, meaningful home, the project reflects the studio’s philosophy of “Crafting Aesthetic Living.”

The client envisioned a space that felt culturally rooted yet light and modern. Responding to this, the designers avoided heavy panelling, instead treating every wall as an individual design element, allowing texture, craftsmanship, and materiality to define the home.

The living area forms the emotional heart of the residence. Overlooking the serene Manas Lake, it features a reversible wooden zula that becomes a space for pause, prayer, and togetherness. Soft furnishings, warm wood tones, and natural light create an atmosphere of quiet comfort and flow.

The dining area draws inspiration from ancestral Indian homes. A handcrafted textured wall, reminiscent of old Indian house walls, forms the backdrop, while a sunroof light effect floods the space with daylight. Anchoring the dining wall is a Vadani Javal shloka on a banana leaf, thoughtfully integrated as a meaningful art piece that adds cultural depth.

A dedicated mandir space further strengthens the home’s spiritual core. The mandir wall is paired with a lotus-carved console and teak wood lotus seating for the idols, creating a serene and respectful setting for daily rituals.

Designed with a sense of warmth and thoughtful detail, all the bedrooms showcase a harmonious blend of comfort, functionality, and playful charm. Soft pastel hues, natural wood finishes, and gentle curves establish a calming atmosphere, while smart storage solutions ensure visual clarity. Subtle whimsical accents and layered textures introduce personality, creating spaces that feel nurturing, inviting, and beautifully suited to rest and creativity.

Designed completely as per Vastu principles, Tarangan balances functionality, harmony, and emotional well-being. With its warm material palette, handcrafted details, and intentional design, the home stands as a timeless expression of tradition reimagined for contemporary living.

Interior Lover Team’s view on the project
Rooted in tradition yet effortlessly contemporary, the 1,200 sq. ft. residence Tarangan in Bhugaon, Pune, designed by Rachana’s Opus under the leadership of Principal Designer Ar. Rachana Daterao, presents an interior narrative shaped by calm, culture, and thoughtful restraint.

The home is conceived as an emotional landscape where décor elements are deliberately understated, allowing craftsmanship, texture, and material honesty to take precedence over visual heaviness. Rather than relying on dominant panelling or overt statements, each surface is treated as an individual composition, creating depth through handcrafted finishes and tactile detailing.

A warm palette of natural wood, muted hues, and soft furnishings establishes visual continuity while subtly referencing Indian traditions in a refined, modern manner. Cultural symbolism is seamlessly integrated into the décor through meaningful inscriptions and sculpted elements that function as art, adding layers of personal and spiritual resonance. Light plays a pivotal role, gently accentuating textures and enhancing the home’s serene atmosphere.

Designed in complete alignment with Vastu principles, the interiors foster balance, emotional comfort, and quiet harmony. Tarangan stands as a timeless expression of Indian heritage thoughtfully reimagined for contemporary living.
