Chirag Shah’s Studio | Alter Architects | Vadodara
Chirag Shah’s Studio is a retail store project with a spacious 2000 sq. ft., area that was completed in Akota, Vadodara, Gujarat and is done up in a minimalistic style with pristine elegant interiors. The studio specifically showcases a premium collection of outfits that were ethically décor by Alter Architects. The design intent of the space was to create pleasing interiors so that the designer’s colourful collection of clothing could be highlighted, and add the necessary vibrance and grandeur to the interior space.
The Principal Architects shares that the name itself suggests it is a fashion design and ethnic wear studio under the banner of Chirag Shah’s studio which is well known for its wedding collections. The studio had a space with three floors with a reflective glass façade. The client required some creative solutions that will drastically redefine a banal space into a designer’s den keeping in mind the functionality. The client’s focus was to get the space that reflects his personality and enhances the beauty of his designer wear, adding value to his design.
Chirag Shah is already an established designer in Vadodara hence there was no need to attract walking customers; Designers focused on creating an elegant space with the same vibes on all three floors with the changes in designs relevant to the purpose of the space. The studio has been designed considering a cosy and warm environment which makes the space inviting and comfortable. It intended to design a space with minimal use of colours in the interiors to enhance the tone and details of fabrics. The architect’s approach to the design was to obtain maximum elegance through patterns, colours and materials.
The three-storey studio has been designed to satisfy the client’s requirements for all the segments that he works on. The ground floor was designed to make space for fabrics for formal and casual wear along with other aiding accessories. It was designed in a way that clients can easily glance all the fabrics together and fabricate the combinations. The reception area is innovatively ornated with a geometrical orange panel with black hues. A hidden door was created to go upstairs, amalgamating with the geometric pattern.
The first floor was dedicated to ethnic wear along with accessories. This floor is designed with utmost care as the client is going to spend more time in the selection of wedding garments. The circulation of the floor is designed as an experience corridor. Also, this floor accommodates a trial room covered with a beautiful curtain. The modern ceiling design in grey with black lighting fixtures adds elegance to the interior décor. The classic selection of chandeliers compliments the ethnic wear interior section.
Designers use an eye-pleasing neo-classic sitting in a different tone of colours which compliments the wooden center table. The grey wardrobe is ornated with gorgeous artwork while the sofa’s back wall is emphasised with the same artwork panel with golden hues. While a classic chandelier is well accentuated with the wall décor.
The second floor is totally for utility purposes and was divided into two parts one for trial rooms and shoes section and a second for their masters for sewing machines and storage of raw materials. The shoe section is ornated with wooden panelling where shoe racks are well illuminated with lighting fixtures. Whereas the trial area wall is highlighted with an orange colour palette which complements the grey colour theme.
As mentioned earlier, designers tried to follow one theme- a colour palette for all the floors, they used single textures on all walls along with the fabricated and wooden structures which are enhanced by glasses somewhere. Some areas are highlighted by the customized artwork on different media which is also accented with decorative lights.
