The face of the work space is evolving in nature. We no longer want to work in closed rooms and dark cubicles. The millennials in the work force want to be able to see their team mates. They want freshness and well lit spaces. A co-working space, a modern face of the the work environment, must satisfy all these concepts. Keeping this in mind, we designed and executed two floors for Talentica Software – an office that would provide infrastructure aid to software startups.
The main plan is devised upon a linear spine that splits the floor plate diagonally. An array of ceiling baffles flows in alignment to this linear spine. Below this ceiling are 120 degree angled workstations that honey comb the space making it organic and variable. It is important that since different individual may have varied needs, to provide a variety of desk-seat arrangement.
We added spaces containing some linear desks and some high “hot desks” for quick discussions, emails and stand up tasks. We added a couple of semi formal conference rooms with video call facility, writable wall surfaces and sound proof partition systems. Along with these, we also provided a few small sized meeting rooms and informal discussion desks.
A large double-height cafeteria on the terrace acts as a hang out space for all the team mates even after late work hours. The Partition System that makes up the meeting and conference rooms is another product developed specially by Team Meta Arch. An aluminium extrusion section with a provision for housing two glass panels and the on between filled up with an inert gas creates an excellent solution for office partitions. It not only allows joint free glass but also enhances the acoustical values of the rooms.
The colour scheme of the office contains a strikingly bright Sapphire Blue with Architectural White to serve as its companion. The floor being a warm grey carpet and hard tiling allows the oak wood texture of the work desks to stand out. The ceiling being almost open to mother slab, we used exposed suspended lighting fixtures to create a rustic mix while maintaining an evenly diffused light over work areas.
