Residence at Lodha Park- The Serene Coalesce | AVDS (Agavi Vora Design Studio) | Lower Parel, Mumbai
This home is located in one of the busiest areas of South Mumbai, Lower Parel at Lodha Park Complex.
Moving away from the chaos of the city and feeling at peace once you’re home – drove the concept of this 1250 Sq.ft project – ‘The Serene Coalesce’ The clients believe in meditation and religiously practice Yoga, their brief being – a tranquil and minimal home radiating openness and positivity.
The entrance foyer is segregated for privacy from visitors from the rest of the living room with a sliding fluted glass door from JB glass. A custom built-in console is fitted with fluted Statuario marble detail housing storage, the Buddha statue from the client’s personal collection rests on it cantered to the window letting the light in. The entrance passage is wrapped up in linen wallpaper to add warmth, which opens up into a white space.
The Living room is open and clutter free with abundance of light flooding in, extending into the dining area. The custom made sofa from Chesterfield is paired with a console, a marble coffee table by AVDS handcrafted on site with castors underneath to help it move around, and a cantilevered glass top with a pull out pouf underneath – used as an extended seating or coffee table.
The West Elm throw and cushions from Sarita Handa add texture, while side table is made with different wastage marble on site by AVDS, adding to the geometry. The rug from Jaipur Rugs ties up the seating, and the white custom made fabric artwork by AVDS on the wall adds visual texture keeping it serene.
The Dining area features a custom made organic shaped mirror to break away from the monotony of the straight lines, reflecting the window and the white walls against the muted darker wall paneling behind. Below it is a custom made dining console by AVDS with concealed handles and sleek marble top detail. The dining table is made on site by AVDS, with the dining chairs from Chesterfield tied up with the rug from Jaipur Rugs.
The Master bedroom sees a fluted wall to add texture and form a backdrop for the bed and bedside tables, custom made on site by AVDS. The bed is upholstered with fabrics from West Elm and D’Décor. The artwork is from Leslie Pinto and vase on the bedside table from Bo Concept. The armchair is custom made from Chesterfield upholstered in fabric from The Pure Concept making it a cozy corner for reading overlooking the green space in the complex.
The Daughter’s room being one of the smaller rooms in the house was designed to fit in the requirements with a splash of pastels and a Scandinavian touch. The bed is upholstered in fabric from The Pure Concept. A hanging light above it adds to the young and cheerful mood of the space with art from Calcuttan gallery. The bookshelf is whimsical yet minimal. The study is custom made on site by AVDS and is paired with the study chair from West Elm. Details feature curves to make the room look feminine and softer.
The Mother’s room was designed with furniture custom made to size by AVDS to keep space for movement around. The room is calm, muted and open with a lot of light pouring in for peaceful meditation sessions.
The Pooja space given by the builder originally was broken down to give a feeling of expanse to the passage by opening up the windows to it, adding cross ventilation and light. It was turned into a common storage space, Pooja and a bookshelf. The entire home doesn’t have any protruding handles, as the spaces are tight.
A mostly neutral color palate is followed through the space, with the “Flow” of light and design continuing through the house, keeping the client’s brief in mind to reflect calmness at all times.
