The Opaline – A home that whispers luxury | Studio Jaya Sethi | Andheri, Mumbai
A Gift to a mother by their three daughters in three different parts of the world, The Opaline is a deeply personal home shaped through collaboration, patience, and countless Zoom calls. A haven which celebrates togetherness – A space that leaves an impression, where statement colours canvased by linear geometries balanced by minimal forms takes the stage.

Luxury here is restrained, colours unfold against a canvas of linear geometries, softened by minimal forms that allow the design elements to breathe.

Foyer greets you with an energizing first impression with a pastel blue moulded frames paired with a tropical wallpaper composition that gently draws you inward transitioning into the living room with a silk grey marble floor and most strikingly textured artwork inspired by ocean waves to introduce movement in an otherwise elegantly ordered design.

Mirrors are used extensively, not as embellishment but as a spatial strategy, amplifying the abundance of natural light and lending the apartment an effortless pearl- like luminosity, Midnight ink-blue tiles spill into the powder bath complimented by a black panda marble finish for a confident dialogue between depth and contrast.

The guest bedroom is compact yet expressive, designed with a playful alcove that houses a sofa-cum-bed. Layers of wallpaper, art prints, wall lights, and a singular colour story introduce drama without overwhelming the space, A proof that even the smallest rooms can carry personality.

Each Bedroom feels personal, layered and quietly expressive, In the daughter’s bedroom, a scaled-up tan leather headboard embraces the fabric-finished bed, grounded by warm oak flooring. Fluted wall panels and mirrors work together to create a space that feels expansive yet cocooned

The master bedroom is imbued with a gentle, honeydew-blush femininity. A monotone palette, softened through upholstered wall panels and delicately detailed off-white furniture, creates a serene, enveloping retreat, One that feels both graceful and mature.

From one space to the next, colour flows into colour, guided by linear mouldings, curated artworks, mirrors, and wallpapers. The experiential journey of a home flows almost effortlessly. Here, Opulence speaks calmly, It lingers, It whispers.

Interior Lover team’s view on the project
Elegantly nested within Andheri, Mumbai, The Opaline is a 1,200 sq. ft. 3BHK residence designed by Ar. Jaya Sethi of Studio Jaya Sethi, shaped as much by sentiment as by design intent. Envisioned as a gift from three daughters to their mother, the project emerged through sustained collaboration across geographies, resulting in a home that feels both personal and composed. The interiors are driven by a carefully moderated design approach where colour, structure, and material coexist in quiet confidence.

Architectural lines provide order, while expressive finishes and curated surfaces introduce depth and individuality. Rather than relying on excess, the design allows contrast and texture to build visual interest within a refined framework. Natural and artificial light are thoughtfully amplified through reflective elements, lending softness and spatial openness. Art, wall treatments, and layered details guide movement through the home, creating a fluid and immersive experience.

Each zone carries a distinct mood while remaining connected through a consistent design language. The Opaline represents a nuanced expression of residential luxury—subtle, enduring, and emotionally resonant—where elegance is felt gently, long after the first impression.
