Purple Flutes | Studio Bariqi | Mumbai
Nestled in a bustling neighbourhood of Mumbai, the new boutique for Maniraj Solitaire offers a fresh take on modern retail experience. Conceived by Design Architect Hardik Dedhia of Studio Bariqi for jewelry designer Nidhi Gala Dedhia, this intimate studio intentionally steps away from the heavy, traditional tropes of jewelry showrooms.

“We wanted to create a highly curated sanctuary where the layout feels completely free and intuitive, allowing the artistry of the jewelry to naturally command attention in a clean, clutter-free environment,” explains Hardik.

This mindful approach to spatial harmony extends to the clever use of zoning within the compact footprint all while adhering to the principles of Vastu. Tucked discreetly behind a thoughtfully designed partition lies a dedicated pantry and a secure storage area housing the primary safe. This separation was meticulously planned so that it completely conceals the operational elements and ample storage from the client’s view, yet it is positioned so that the ambient light filtering into the main studio is never compromised.

Soft architectural arches further relax the contemporary geometry of the room, guiding the eye toward the visual anchor of the interior: a striking, three-dimensional feature wall. Rendered in a deep, regal purple it serves as a direct nod to the Maniraj Solitaire brand colors. This architectural element injects a vibrant energy against a luminous off-white canvas of subtle flooring and minimalist ceilings. Rather than relying on bulky glass cabinets, this fluted wall doubles as an integrated display. Seamless, floating circular niches hold velvet busts, framing bespoke pieces as a standalone work of art within a gallery-like setting.

To maximize this spatial experience, a large, frameless, arched floor mirror is strategically placed to reflect the signature display wall, creating an elegant optical illusion that makes the boutique feel significantly larger and deeper. Materiality also plays a vital role in elevating the overall aesthetic. “We incorporated brass very minimally and subtly throughout the space, allowing it to catch the eye along the edges of the custom white consultation desks without ever overpowering the serene, minimalist design language we were striving for,” Hardik shares. Because lighting is paramount in fine jewelry retail, the entire studio is bathed in a soft, diffused warm glow that cultivates a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.

The true technical achievement, however, lies directly above the main consultation desk, where a highly adaptable lighting setup has been meticulously designed to accommodate various moods. This specialized illumination allows the designer to showcase the intricate facets of diamonds and precious metals under the absolute best conditions, tailoring the viewing experience for every individual client. By seamlessly blending strong brand identity with subtle, bespoke architectural detailing, Studio Bariqi has crafted an inspiring atelier for the designer and a highly personal, sophisticated haven for a discerning clientele.

Interior Lover Team’s view on the Project
Refined, expressive, and visually immersive, Purple Flutes is a 210 sq. ft. jewellery boutique in Mumbai, designed by Studio Bariqi under the Principal Architect Ar. Hardik Dedhia, with execution by Mace Design for Maniraj Solitaire. The boutique introduces a contemporary retail language where architecture, lighting, and display come together to create a calm yet distinctive customer experience.

A luminous neutral backdrop allows the deep purple fluted installation to emerge as the defining visual element, bringing richness and character into the compact space. Soft arches and curved forms gently guide movement, while circular display niches transform jewellery presentation into an almost gallery-like composition. Reflective surfaces are carefully positioned to enhance depth and create a greater sense of openness within the interior. The material palette remains elegant and restrained, layered with warm lighting, delicate metallic accents, and tactile finishes that enrich the atmosphere with quiet sophistication.

Every design detail is approached with clarity and precision, ensuring the space feels seamless, balanced, and visually refined. The result is a boutique environment that feels contemporary, graceful, and thoughtfully curated—crafted to elevate the experience of jewellery viewing through mood, texture, and spatial elegance.
