A momentous Veda Hospital’s architecture and Interior, draped in a scalable modular design, is expanding its wings in the spiritual city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Veda Hospital is the first hospital in the district dedicated to cancer and is also multispecialty which emerges as a redefinition of healthcare design in a more than 65000 sq. ft., area. And with a visionary tapestry of tradition and innovation meticulously woven into the architectural fabric. Studio Design Atelier embarked on a mission to transcend the boundaries of conventional healthcare infrastructure.
The Principal Designer, Neha Mody shares that Veda Hospital is designed with the intent of creating a sense of eye-pleasing theme with a prime focus on approachability, the hospital has been planned, designed, and executed in such a way that people across the social strata could feel at ease. The resultant architectural marvel not only caters to immediate healthcare needs but stands as a blueprint for the future, a testament to the amalgamation of form and function.
Built with natural materials and a no-frills design, which reflects the earthy flavour gracefully. The earthy frame in a rectangular structure is perfectly positioned to capitalize on breathtaking views. Beyond functionality, the design radiates a commitment to sustainability, seamlessly blending with the natural surroundings and embodying environmental consciousness. The brick facade was an intricate journey that harmonized with a grey facade, resulting in a facility that not only furnishes immediate healthcare needs but serves as an ideal for the future of medical architecture.
The hospital’s entrance area focuses on a theme that comforts with calmness and optimism through a blend of contemporary furniture design supported with natural elements like wood and light shades of wall finishes, creating a warm focal point. A modern console unit with Lord Ganesh adds a peaceful ambience for visitors. The reception area is a neatly designed space with a minimalist approach where wooden paneling is the highlight of the space. The signage in white and the lighting fixtures bring calmness to the décor. While in modern sofas with leatherettes upholstery in the waiting area with a wooden platform bring a sense of tranquillity to the visitors.
The infusion doctor’s cabin is a spacious open-plan room with sober ceilings that is well accentuated with modern wall shelves and storage units. The modern working table and chairs with blue upholstery sofas enhance the contemporary look of this cabin. White walls and wooden furniture allure the interior décor of this space with its elegance.
The fixtures and furniture have a modern, practical style that emphasizes ergonomics for visitors and patients ensuring that the waiting areas and communal spaces are equipped with connectivity solutions that meet the tech-savvy requirements of the client. In a nutshell, this contemporary hospital interior design satisfies every need that multispecialty hospital functions near each OPD zone. To create an elegant healing atmosphere, as well as an adaptable layout that can accommodate open spaces that foster plenty of lighting fixtures.
The hospital’s next section places the patient examination unit that leads to the operating and examination room, which was designed with expert medical inspection where patient and medical staff’s comfort and accessibility were positioned at the centre followed by elegant eye-soothing theme and maintenance systems. The design theory was kept clutter-free accumulating storage and feeling openness with respective waiting areas.
The interior theme in the modern operation theatre, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with ventilator support, dialysis facility, and professionalism in this sole cancer multispecialty setup makes Veda Hospital unique with its interior décor. Designers make sure every décor is related to their work zone like the latest technology, including a 96-slice CT scan, Digital X-ray, Ultra Sonography (USG), Echocardiography and Treadmill Stress Test (TMT) and fully equipped Pathology. And according to that the designer selected the flooring, ceiling and wall décor which create a calm ambience for the users.
While designing this hospital designer makes sure that each area brings calmness and a peaceful environment for the patients and visitors. Openness and elegant décor elements bring serenity to the passage and corridors with proper lighting fixtures.
Very consciously, the designers have achieved the same freshness across all its spaces- be it the general ward or the private wards. Whereas, sofas, chairs and TV units give a luxury feeling to the users. The same material palette and design concept are followed across all the wards. Materials that are easy to maintain and those that meet the standards, efficiently find their place here.
Every piece of furniture and light fixture in the special patient wards is automated and connected to visible technology, which is managed by devices and tech panels. The room contains a patient bed, which is well-ornated with wooden elements and modern furniture like a sofa and chairs. The overall design accentuates modern luxury and comfort supported by flexible and comfortable furniture arrangements.
Designers make sure that all corner of the Cancer Care Hospital echoes patient-centric design principles. Filled with light, therapeutic spaces prioritise the well-being of patients in these general wards. Thoughtfully incorporated spaces for relatives recognize their integral role in the healing process, while a selection of curtains and their mechanism make sure that it is easy to access. All the medical equipment is well-ornated with eye-catching wall panelling to create a pleasing atmosphere.
As per the hospital’s requirements designer elegantly designed this workspace for the hospital’s employees. The modern wooden storage unit with a working desk is complemented with modern accessories. While plain white ceilings with proper lighting fixtures add elegance to the interior décor in this working space.
Even the hospital pharmacy department is well-planned by the designer. It is clean, elegant and spacious with a proper wooden storage unit. An organic design delivered through wooden elements merged with a light colour scheme adds warmness complementing the furniture arrangement.
Overall To create a healing environment, a neutral brightness was maintained through optimal use of adjustable and functional lighting. Clinical functionality is optimized through strategic adjacencies, enhancing staff efficiency and healthcare outcomes. Thoughtfully incorporated spaces for people to recognize their integral role in the healing process, while clean departmental planning ensures ease of navigation, minimizing concern levels for users. The brilliance of this design lies in its democratic approach, breaking down barriers to entry and making a pleasing ambience. The result is both functional and striking for the patients, it provides a sense of well-being.
