Frenzy Couture and Salon | Studio Imagine | Vadodara
A blushing bride with an intricate outfit, sparkling with the jewellery that adorns her and revelling in the aura of love and joy – this was the image that inspired Studio Imagine while designing Frenyz Couture and Salon. “FCS had a unique concept of offering the most essential services that a girl may need for any wedding season – exceptional outfits and professional salon services – under one roof. It was unheard of in our small
town of Vadodara and it was a challenge we were glad to accept. While the salon needed an idyllic environment, the couture studio needed to be glamorous – literally two ends of a spectrum. The idea was never to design a salon and a boutique – it was to design both as one, homogenous unit. We wanted the overall design to reflect the brand identity of FCS and show the clients exactly what they stand for,” says Ar. Ajal Shah of Studio Imagine.
As one walks into FCS, they are greeted with a spacious reception area that separates the boutique from the salon. Like a bride donning her Sangeet outfit, this area is full of colourful contradictions and sparkly glamour. The risqué reds of the lounge set contrast elegantly with the Ombre green reception desk that looks much like a twirling skirt. The pendant lighting on the ceiling and the zigzag tiled floor are the beautiful accessories that complete the look.
With an array of beautifully colourful outfits adorning the walls of the couture studio, the colour scheme is kept to a minimum with beautiful blushes and eggshell whites. Like a bride, who believes in less is more; this area of the studio is designed to be elegant and spacious. The furniture is sparse and is arranged in a manner that ensures undivided attention to the clients.
A recurring theme of a deer with long antlers can be witnessed throughout the design. A deer symbolizes strength, elegance and transformation – everything that FCS stands for – everything that FCS hopes to give a bride with their outfits and their salon services. Incorporating it in their designs was not just pleasing aesthetically but also reminded everyone of what they stand for.
A separate bridal consultation room has been set up in the couture studio. The use of mirrors, glasses and beautiful lights that bedecks this room reminds one of the dazzling smiles of the bride on her D-Day! The golden trimmings on the furnishings lend it all a chic taste. Having glass doors and walls ensures spaciousness and continuity of the design scheme.
The corridors that connect the couture studio to the salon area have been designed in a way that it can be utilized for bridal shoots. The ornately carved mirror (with the deer mascot, of course), the abstract ceiling hangings in the colour scheme of the design, the patterned floor tiles and the chandelier all form a very tastefully artistic backdrop.
The salon has a Zen ambience. The open plan design with colour schemes of pastel greens is perfect for relaxing and pampering – just what a bride needs before and on her wedding!
The focal point of this open space design is the circular arrangement of the hairstyling station from the centre of which erupts a lush tree. This tree not only makes one nostalgic for the olden times when the barber used to sit beneath a tree and cut people’s hair but also signifies growth and liveliness.
The furniture, like the boutique, is kept to a minimum with floating shelves that solve any storage problems. The space is also livened up with a variety of small plants that go perfectly with the colour scheme and help achieve a peaceful aura in the salon.
Sections have been erected to give a dedicated space for various salon services such as manicure-pedicure. However, these sections are mostly glass or fabricated structures that while distinguishing the areas, do not obstruct the layout.
An exclusive area for the bride is set apart for getting her ready on her big day. With ample space for a team to work and the comfiest of chairs, the bride would truly feel like a star!
To offer the clients a sense of privacy and a serene atmosphere, the private service rooms are mapped out with adequate lighting and a faux-panelling effect of various shades of green on their walls. With tranquil music playing and the smell of essential oils in the air, this is the perfect way for a bride to wind down.
“We have tried to make ample use of space and natural light while designing. Every element used in the design had a conscious thought of the practicality, aesthetics and representing the brand values of FCS. A lot of thought was put into optimizing the space and using every little corner. This design has essentially surpassed all our expectations,” concludes Ar. Ajal Shah.
