The main idea of the project was to amplify the interior quality of the space by assigning proper functions. Thus, we intend to create spaces that enhances the spatial quality of the already existing structure with the incorporation of furniture and artworks.
Interior spaces were designed in such a manner that prime colours were given; emphasising visual balance as well as sharp contrast with the exposed finishes. The overall flooring of the space is done in such a manner that a demarcation of the space is achieved. The key changes that were made in the project to make it more lively includes colors, artworks, natural finishes, textures and lighting.
FOYER
The formal living room was devoid of a formal enclosure and the main focus being given to the wooden altar. The client wanted to retain the visual focus and give emphasis to the prayer area. Thus in the foyer, the focus was intangibly retained with wooden cross and the space was given a modern touch with the installation representing the action of devotion guiding towards the rest of the spaces. The pathway acts as a demarcation between the formal living and the open green space.
FORMAL LIVING
To give a character, subtle colours were initially added to make a striking contrast with the plain featured wall in the formal living. Adjacent double height wall was given cement textured finish with an antique golden artwork to break the rigidity of the entire space. To create an overall balance; indoor plants along with a fluid acrylic art was added giving colours and organic nature to the space.
The demarcation of interior spaces was achieved through differences in the flooring texture.
FAMILY LIVING AND STAIR AREA
Coming to the family living, the space formally had a congested furniture layout with a prayer space. Coming to the family living, a low seater green leather sofa was given against the TV wall. The TV wall was given a matte finish vitrified tile cladding in order to reduce the reflection.
The existing vertical railings for the staircase was given emphasis by painting metallic coffee brown; giving a rhythmic pattern.
BEDROOM 1
Neutral warm shades were added to the ground floor bedroom, emphasising subtleness in the design. To mark a striking visual contrast fluid acrylic paintings in Persian blue were added as well as the head board was made in leather in dark blue shade. A studio lamp on one side and a hanging light on the other side illuminates a warmer shade contributing to the overall ambience of the space.
BEDROOM 2
The bedroom was highlighted by giving a feature wall. Peacock blue shade was given to emphasis the wall and to give a calm atmosphere to the inhabitants occupying in the upper floor. The wardrobe was made of marine plywood with teakwood finish.
COURTYARD
The vacant pebble court was transformed to a lush green courtyard space, extending the nature to the indoor. Plants like plumeria, black lilly, peace lilly were added to the space with river stone along the pathways.
