Monotone House | The Mark Decor | Kolkata

It’s a 1800 sq.ft. flat and the only brief received from client was ‘sophistication’ and that’s exactly what he received. A 4BHK housing three generations in Kankurgachi area located in the North-East part of Kolkata.

The living and dining area has been designed with lots of details. Sofa back wall looks stunning with detailing created by POP work. The windows are hidden with louvered sliding door. The beams are covered with alabaster stone. There is an arch shaped niche highlighted with alabaster stone with a beautiful Pichwai painting on it. The false ceiling of living room has been talked about with the luxurious furniture.

The Mandir is hand carved made with Australian white marble and intricacies that catches the eye of all who come in.

The dining area is placed right next to the balcony to enhance the beauty of the space. Marble on the dining top with metal and veneer below looked amazing. Crockery unit is made of polycoat and veneer against a wallpaper and artifact wall. The guest bedroom door & snack cabinet are camouflaged right next to the dining.

Kitchen has been made in the grey palette with Statuario tiles on wall, grey floor and 15mm granite floor counter. ASA laminates and glass sheets has been used in cabinets. All in all giving a clean look overall.

Srinath Ji in Tanjore is the show stopper of the house. It is placed in the center of the passage giving a feeling of positivity. The kitchen & MBR door has been camouflaged with a design.

The MBR was the most well-lit room flooded with natural light. Light color laminates are blended with metallic PVC sheets and concealed handles. The TV Unit is made with leather on drawers and POP work on back. A marble corner with decorative lights enhances the bedroom.

Son’s room is full on bachelor look with leather laminates and high headboard. The study unit has a playful look with small arches in the study area. Small niches have been pocketed on either side of the bed to give the sheer curtains an end and hidden storage.

The eldest generation wanted a very light color room. Hence, its fully monotone. Tiles and louvered panels have been given as bed back. TV can be incorporated in the wardrobe itself. Big curtains, light curtains and functionality hidden inside areas are the main USP of the house.

The Guest room has been designed beautifully with the headboard being the emphasis point of the room. A hanging light has been created as per the headboard above the side table and a study table has been provided. The wardrobes are unique because of the shutter shape and grooved handles.

All toilets are designed giving big mirrors and decorative lights. Light colored tiles on wall with floor in a darker tone unifies the space.
