The site is situated on a 3rd floor Of a very old commercial complex in the old city of Rajkot (Gujarat) surrounded by a dense marketplace.
The area of the office space comprises is about 250 sq.ft. The brief of the client was very specific. He had budget constrain and wanted a very premium look of the overall office with the least expenditure. The existing shell of the office was in much-undulated surfaces along with major issues of finishes.
Therefore, we kept a very simple material pallet. We used walnut-finished laminates for the majority of the furniture, fluted glass for partitions, metal frames, Italian marble finish tiles, and metal corrugated sheets for the wall.
The main wall extended about 22ft. in length was the prominent wall which could be seen throughout the office space and the same wall had major finish issues. Therefore we covered the wall with metal corrugated sheets, painted it with warm Ochre yellow, and highlighted it with spotlights which create a play of light and shadow on the surface of the corrugated wall.
The use of Fluted glass in the partitions at the entry passage and the main partition between the main chamber and the work station gives a very rich look with the fluting effect when it reflects the light behind the glass and even acts as a textured mural enhancing the quality of the space.
The use of metal along with the furniture has been the main design idea to make the furniture look sleek yet highlighting the walnut finish of the laminates. And for a premium look yet keeping the budget in mind, Italian marble finish tiles had been used as the tabletops for the Boss table as well as the work station and the center coffee table which give the overall ambiance a very premium finish.
As the width of the office space is hardly 8 ft. therefore the base color has been kept on a very neutral white to make the space look more breathable and spacious along with a very minimal ceiling design. The décor elements such as the concrete planters, reused bottle planters, paintings plays a major role in enhancing the overall look of the space giving it a very warm and cozy feel.
