Label Mukund Taneja | Mehak Sandhu-Vendage | Amritsar
Clothing Boutique – A Sculpted Expression of Modern Masculinity is a 1500 sq. ft. retail space located in Amritsar, Punjab, designed for Label Mukund Taneja. Conceptualised by Vendage – an interior design studio, the boutique was completed in April 2025 under the direction of Principal Designer Mehak Sandhu. Defined by expressive geometry, tailored detailing, and a rich yet understated palette, the design merges modern masculinity with cultural refinement. The space unfolds as a boutique that balances soft spatial rhythm with a structured layout, offering an atmosphere of quiet luxury.
The Principal Designer shares that the ceiling design became a defining feature—its wave-like form gently softens the otherwise linear composition of the space. This movement is echoed in various architectural gestures, creating a visual flow that connects distinct zones of the boutique. She further emphasises that materiality played a crucial role, with a mix of crocodile leather, brushed metal, satin, suede, and velvets forming the tactile backbone of the displays. Cool greys and deep blues bring coherence, while the lighting and layered finishes contribute to the serene and elevated experience.
The entry corridor sets a confident tone with its polished grey tiles and sculptural eye-catching ceiling waves, leading the eye through the space. A statement mirror adds an artistic touch, while open racks highlight the clothing with understated elegance. The lighting fixtures along the curves above establish a sleek rhythm and immediately pull one into the boutique’s tailored world.
A centrally placed lounge area offers a thoughtful break in the shopping journey, encouraging interactions and immersive brand engagement. The lounge zone introduces a softer side to the boutique with deep blue accents and layered textures. Arch-topped shelves, subtle metallic finishes, and cosy seating turn this area into a quiet place of contemplation. A sculptural chandelier above adds a dash of grandeur while complementing the boutique’s theme of elegance with an edge.
A blue-toned niche creates a spotlight moment for the apparel display, framed by an elegant marble-textured arch and plush velvet backdrops. This nook feels warm yet elevated, offering a dramatic pause that’s both bold and refined. The curved ceiling continues to ripple softly above, adding a sense of movement that contrasts with the strong, linear forms below.
Comfort meets curation in this refined corner. Thoughtfully placed lighting fixtures, deep niches with velvet drapes, and well-padded modern seating encourage customers to linger. The setting feels personal, like a bespoke wardrobe consultation space, seamlessly blending practicality with a sense of occasion. Display and seating are intertwined, creating an immersive yet functional shopping environment.
Expansive and open, this view showcases the boutique’s dedication to displaying apparel in a spacious, artful arrangement. Generous shelving units and soft furnishings ensure that fashion remains the focus. Subtle textural contrasts—matt vs. polished—add interest without visual clutter. It’s a space designed for discovery, where every element feels considered and composed.
This central lounge area radiates calm with its muted palette and soft curves. Gentle lighting enhances the quiet elegance of the velvet seating and surrounding display units. There’s a smooth flow between zones, with generous spacing that encourages a relaxed, immersive experience at every turn. The room feels inviting, perfect for personalised styling sessions and thoughtful retail moments.
A modular grid system showcases accessories and apparel like curated pieces of art. The deep blue backdrop and strategic lighting lend a luxurious gallery-like aesthetic. Every detail is calibrated to elevate the shopping experience into something visually poetic. This design captures the boutique’s essence—structured yet soulful, orderly yet expressive.
The checkout counter becomes a feature in itself with a striking mural that dances in waves behind. This artistic mural, designed by Sneha Arora, features a flowing theme that echoes the boutique’s ceiling language while introducing an artistic flourish. Velvet chairs and clean-lined furniture complete this closing zone, where transactions are transformed into an experience, not just a step.
A bespoke display unit doubles as a luxe serving station, blending hospitality with high fashion. Custom-angled compartments hint at a tailored storage strategy, making functionality feel inherently refined. The reflective surfaces elevate the visual drama, catching light in all the right ways. Every detail speaks to a curated retail experience where style and service merge seamlessly.
Privacy meets polish in this well-considered trial zone. A sweeping curtain encloses a mirrored alcove, softly lit and artfully designed to feel more like a personal studio than a fitting room. Plush textures, curved furnishings, and subtle layering make this space feel both nurturing and ultra-modern.
A wardrobe alcove becomes a stage with rich teal curtains setting a theatrical backdrop. Each garment stands out against the pleated fabric, emphasising its silhouette. The arched niche above maintains continuity with the boutique’s architectural language, while the soft drawers below offer hidden practicality beneath the display drama. Every corner of the boutique was conceived with clarity of circulation and shopper comfort in mind, stated by Mehak Sandhu, The Principal Designer.
This contemporary yet contextually rich retail environment reflects Mehak Sandhu-Vendage’s thoughtful and narrative-driven approach. Their vision for Label Mukund Taneja honours the craft of tailoring while shaping an inviting and composed retail atmosphere that resonates with discerning clientele. The boutique stands as a refined expression of brand identity, elevating the shopping experience through its immersive spatial language. Every design element, from the ceiling to the display, reinforces the ethos of modern masculinity with elegance and depth.
