EVK architects nestled in front of the lush green backdrop within Adani Shantigram in Ahmedabad is the 2255 Sq. ft. apartment of an energetic couple who are modern yet rooted in their culture, traditions and values. A modern design concept is juxtaposed with a touch of vintage and has been tied up with ample ornamentation. An exotic blend of various materials, textures, colours and art forms lend distinct uniqueness, that displays the client’s lifestyle.
The Principal Architect of EVK architects, Ekta Kapadia and team, expressed that after spending many years in the hustle and bustle, the clients were looking for a dream home where they could devote their relaxing part of their proficient lives. The house was designed with an earthy approach, paying courtesy to the clients’ desires and persona rather than following a regular apartment style. In spite of the vast size, the apartment was lacking a spacious feel, which the clients intended to change. A few structural changes were made to invite more natural light and a breezy aura into the apartment. The mood of the interior spaces completely changed with the supplementary flow of natural light and soothing views of the surrounding foliage. Their dream was always to have a simple yet luxurious, comfortable home reflecting their roots in Indian sensibilities and rendering a contemporary feel.
THE FAMILY LOUNGE AREA
The interior is spacious and open with good use of visually connecting unique decor to create a sense of security and privacy. The entrance area welcomes guests into a huge space that was designed and divided into two parts- the living room and the family lounge area. The blend of contemporary & traditional interior design looks quite classy and warm. The family area space is a unique fusion of a present-day setup, establishing a modern appeal with its traditional elemental detailing and furnishing.
The open play layout structures visual connection across all the adjoining spaces following a sense of oneness in this spacious expanse. A fulfilling ikkat weave upholstery grandeur lounge sitting with teak wood base and brass touch adds unique tranquility here. What acts as an epicenter is the wooden Swing with traditional brass hangings and the cane in the backrest with hand rest adds a special royal, elegant look which accentuates the vintage center table. An eye catchy vintage handwork fabric piece of wall art on the wall leaves a rooted feeling. While, the chief element of the design is the irreplaceable natural light that plays along with flooring tiles selection.
THE LIVING ROOM
Every inch layers up to create oneness. EVK architects, as potential designers, had some unique concepts to meet the needs of the space, like a sliding folding partition between the family lounge and the living area which keeps the space visually connected, unfolds grandeur and also helps to maintain privacy. The highlighter TV wall is panelled with a sober design with fluted wooden drawer unit elegantly. While one wall is highlighted by a moulding décor which acts as a classy backdrop to the beautiful pair of lounge chairs. The modern pendent light chandelier creates an eye-soothing look due to the simple ceiling design. The floral fabric on the daybed sofa with a burnt orange touch on the arm-chairs and modern L-shaped sofa accentuates the interior décor with a modern corner pendant light.
THE DINING AREA
The dining area is yet another richly designed space with a living area where a mid-century rattan cane work planter adorned with elegant pendent lights separate the dining from the living area. A beige textured wall with artefacts accentuates the rattan cane work on a beautiful console unit highlighted with natural light to play its part. The dining with an extravagant granite stone table top and olive-green velvet upholstery chairs adds luxury to the space. Eventually, everything else around it started complementing that statement piece.
THE KITCHEN AREA
The kitchen here is designed to exemplify modern characteristics with its Moroccan mosaic tiles and herringbone tile used in the backsplash on the kitchen platform. The colour scheme gives it a fresh ambient atmosphere during the day and night. A fresh palette of moss green on cabinets and white platform is used, giving the kitchen a rich earthy look. It is a modular minimalistic kitchen with inbuilt appliances and an appealing element of a serving counter. The leather finish bar stools sit perfectly in front of the sleek wooden finish counter base. A light composition of three shelves sitting above the counter, holds antique vases and reading books.
MASTER BEDROOM
The master bedroom allows the members to feel grounded and contemporary with an earthy palette while playing with light linear and curved patterns. The space is beautified with a fluted wooden panel on the bed back wall and highlighted with a fabric piece of wall art. Anybody will fall in love with the light-coloured headboard syncing efficiently with the warm light and artefacts. Two delicate pendant lights hang above the bed side tables from a plain ceiling complimenting the dark flooring of the bedroom. Beautiful curve strokes are visible on the dressing wall of invariant colour palette with a capsule mirror to enhance the beauty of it. A dry moss colour lounge chair with its complimenting footrest and tripod floor lamp creates an admirable cozy corner within the room.
MOTHER’S BEDROOM
The mother’s bedroom is décor with sophisticated coloured wardrobes, not only enhancing the reflectivity but also the voluminous aspect of the space. The bedroom design was to keep it simple and maintenance free so designers could highlight the vintage bed design. It was taking the sentiments into account, by retaining the bed that was so close to her heart, and revamping it to give a slightly contemporary touch, while leaving the sentiments intact. The outcome turned out marvelous with highlighted rattan cane work within the curved lines. The bed back wall is highlighted with rich foliage printed fabrics which complements the light shade of the blinds. A stand-alone wardrobe unit is placed with minimal inlay to aspire the users in their daily regime. While the drawer unit beside the wardrobe is given a dark turquoise blue palette with rattan cane work, igniting the space with tantalizing allure.
MASTER BEDROOM 2
This room is particularly for the son who adores football. It was designed keeping a football theme in mind, with a smart play of colours and textures, without losing its maturity. Linear patterns with a cheery palette-tufted the headboard and circular white décor which invites the idea of a room for a football lover. While two black LED pendant light embodies elegance and give a modern twist to the bedroom interior. One corner is designed with an astonishing wooden dressing unit which accentuates the blue-white background. A combination of a reflective blue-white sliding wardrobe accentuates the décor of the bedroom. The study wall is given a sandy rough exposed brick finish which adds to vibrant feel of the room. Grey floral curtains cast a fresh vibe to the elegance of the room.
DAUGHTER’S BEDROOM
The client was very keen to make this fourth bedroom very simple & beautiful. Designers creatively use wooden elements which accentuate the interior décor of the bedroom. The onion pink velvet headboard with adjustable straps and wooden rail gives an elegant look to the bedroom. With the same colour palette continuing on the wardrobe, cane is added to the décor which beautifully breaks the monotony of the room. The room is highlighted only with its unique colours and nothing more. A wooden side table and dressing unit with a light onion pink wall background highlight the décor of the bedroom. Bedazzling set of curtains and plain ceiling accentuate the dark flooring, while all other elements add charm to this bedroom.
