Sunlit Dwelling : A blend of Nature, Comfort & Design | Ergodnovate | Anand, Gujarat
Ergodnovate the architectural firm design’s latest project, Villa Sunlit Dwelling, is located in one of the finest luxury villa communities in Anand, Gujarat. Spread across an area of 7500 sq.ft., the villa is a complete culmination of contemporary design with an earthy touch. Cladding and wooden elements are used in certain areas to give the space warmth, yet enhance its opulence. The architecture of the house focuses on open spaces, large windows, and skylights, allowing ample sunlight to filter in throughout the day.
The Principal Architects Ar. Rachita Patel & Ar. Yash Patel shares that the site is situated in a crowded residential area, surrounded by neighbouring houses close to the compound walls, which makes it challenging to ensure privacy. The client’s old residence was demolished to make way for the new one. The design concept focused on three main requirements of the client. That is Abundant daylight without overheating the interiors, Excellent cross ventilation for all spaces and Maintaining privacy from the neighbouring residences.
The design of this residence incorporates several key features to meet the client’s specific requirements. The Sunlit Dwelling residence is a testament to the harmonious fusion of modern design and sustainable living. Inspired by the abundance of natural sunlight in India, this house is designed to maximize the use of daylight, creating a bright and vibrant living space.
The strategic positioning of the house ensures that every room is bathed in natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It incorporates sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and innovative design features to minimize its carbon footprint. The integration of solar panels provides renewable energy, further reducing the dependence on non-renewable resources.
The interior of the house is as captivating as its exterior. The design adopts an open-plan layout that seamlessly connects the living, dining, kitchen, and worship areas creating a sense of expansiveness. This spatial arrangement fosters a sense of unobstructed space, enhancing the flow of light and air throughout the residence. The use of natural materials and a neutral colour palette adds to the serene ambience, while carefully chosen furniture and artwork enhance the overall aesthetic appeal.
The use of jointless white terrazzo flooring enhances the perception of spaciousness within the interiors. The reflective quality of the flooring amplifies the penetration of natural light, ensuring a well-illuminated environment throughout the day. Strategically placed frosted glass brick walls allow ample natural light to enter the house while preserving privacy from the surrounding residential context. The combination of these walls with open-able windows, oriented to harness prevailing winds, ensures effective cross ventilation, keeping the common areas cool and comfortable without air conditioning.
The design deliberately merges the interior spaces opening to the exterior with thoughtfully designed landscaping elements. This integration blurs the boundaries between the residence and dense residential surroundings, creating a cohesive and serene living environment. By thoughtfully incorporating these architectural features, the residence fulfils the client’s desires for a well-lit, ventilated, and private living space that seamlessly interacts with its natural surroundings. The design not only addresses functional requirements but also creates an aesthetically pleasing and harmonious dwelling for the beautiful joint family of six members of three generations.
The materials and colours used in the foyer and contemporary living area on the ground floor are very warm and welcoming. A soothing colour texture and the stone-cladded wall add the magic of bringing a lot of warmth and cosiness to the space. To create a calm and serene vibe, classic sittings with earthy-tone blind curtains were kept neutral in this contemporary living area. Truly manifested to appropriate its location, this family space is permitting natural light to adorn the interiors and furnishings.
The dining space creates another micro-environment in itself with astute material exploration and defining forms- explicating high living standards. Circular theme royal dining table and chairs are well complemented with a huge circular floated wooden chandelier. Though vividly wall art, the colour palette restricts itself with its monotonal value and hence the resulting sense of aristocracy and creates a bold statement.
A courtyard in the house is inundated with sunlight from the skylight above enhancing the light and shade experience. The courtyard that lies in between the pooja room and kitchen creates a serene place which gives a magical ambience. The selection of a tree on a light tiled flooring and a fountain area is created elegantly which connects a view from the kitchen towards the pooja room. The Lord Shrinathji theme customised artwork after the courtyard gives a serene feel while entering the pooja room.
The concept with a statement island platform, subtle tones, and finishes is adopted for the kitchen. It is majorly light shade and well-lit for convenient cooking curating a unique form of modernity and classic with its neat design. The kitchen here is designed to exemplify modern characteristics with its sober flooring, elegant ceiling, and subtle tones of cabinets hence attaining neatness in its design approach.
The modern staircase is the highlight of the house that adds character to the space by breaking the monotony of curve lines. The material palette resonates with the minimalistic approach while allowing individuality for its residents. Designers creatively used different kinds of artefacts, planters, and wall art for the house.
The contemporary bedroom is a stated sanctuary for its end-users that has a neutral demeanour accentuated with human theme wall paintings. The segmented beige velvet-wrapped headboard is a wooden framed panel, giving it a sleek character. A room truly fit for clients who love to live maximally! Designers selected an attentive wall art for the bedroom’s entrance wall with a planter that exemplifies the theme of the interior décor of the bedroom.
The tropical theme bedroom is one of the main highlights of this project with a four-poster wooden bed. While olive green blind curtains brighten up the room along with an eye-catchy swing chair. The wall art at the entrance of the bedroom, the easy chair and the artefacts define grandeur. The focal accent wall is adorned as a backdrop for the TV unit which takes on the design’s graceful character. The modern wardrobe and dressing unit work as pieces of art in their own right fusing modernism with wooden flooring!
The children room although simple in its design approach, lets the children have fun in this beautiful modern interior. This bedroom was designed not only considering the kids’ age but also without breaking the monotony of the theme of the villa. Two modern curve theme beds with orange upholstery headboards and funky rugs add allure to the décor. While natural light coming from the windows adds allure to the interior décor of the kid’s bedroom.
This accent bedroom attains elegant tones with earthy palettes complemented with modern furniture. It is conceptualized with a classic style of a wooden bed and a complimenting blush pink velvet headboard. A bedroom design is meant to reflect the user which complements their lifestyle and convenience.
With thoughtful planning and focus on detailing and innovative utilization of materials, designers translated the brief into the reality of an elegant and luxe home that is spacious in size. On a concluding note, the final highlight of the mansion is styled & and accessorized with handpicked artefacts that add to the décor. An interplay of geometric patterns with warm and soothing textured materials is the key highlight of this home. Accent lights, and carefully selected add an eclectic flavour to the scheme.
