The Natraj Farm | Studio Design Atelier Pvt Ltd | Ahmedabad
The client, and his family, are huge dendrophiles. They love spending time outdoors, in close contact with nature. The clients wanted us to design for them the landscape that helps them escape the urban chaos, and blend into the natural smells and tones.
Landscape designing projects, pass and process through numerous stages, all starting from the first meeting with the clients, awareness of site, realization, construction and maturation of the final design. In planning of a landscape it is not just the space that matters, but what also plays a major role is the integration between the natural site component and the landscapes environ.
The design must take into account all positive qualities of the site – ground form, cover, exposure, view, and all other architectural features. In this specific project, we decided to let the existing topography shape the design, and made sure that the tones of the elements of the landscape stayed as earthen as possible. Working on a landscape project gives us considerable freedom to shape the nature around the existing architecture, hence the gazebo in the center of the lake acts as the prime constituent. The entire view of the landscape can be viewed from the gazebo all while sipping the evening coffee.
The trees, carefully selected, and the mounds and paths, placed strategically, all shape towards an experience which brings out all the natural smells colors and makes the user more relaxed from the stress of the urban life. We tried to eventually design that escape. The lotus and lilies around the gazebo give it a necessary segregation from the lawn giving the aerating sense once inside.
The architecture, also done in earthen tones, makes sure that the petrichor of every rain is experienced to its maximum.
