A Modern-Rustic Home at Prestige Residency | ANS Design House | Thane
The Principal Designer says that the snug 1 BHK designed in Thane, Mumbai is a beautiful miscellany of modern-rustic Indian aesthetics with contemporary styling for a lovely family of 4 who are based in Kochi as ‘a second home’. Designed in tune with the natural elements, we at ANS Design House wanted to give a more earthy feel to their house. Our intention was not to confer to trends but to create a design that can be relevant to space and can be timeless. A house that can reflect client’s personality, likings, and desires.
It’s a modern home with more emphasis on open spaces. We opened up the kitchen to make it a part of the living room, giving a visual expanse and allowing the home to be full of natural light and fresh air. The home is well equipped with all modern amenities but has a modern rustic look. Pistachio green, white and grey are the colours which bind the entire interior and make it look harmonious. The highlight of the project is the rawness of the white brick wall, which very well compliments the rustic grey tile and teak veneer. – Said by Designer
ANS Design House specializes in compact living and efficient space planning. Living and dining are integrated by an open plan approach. The main door is designed in a sage palette with a grove pattern and highlighted with wooden framing. As teak veneer is used for décor by matching its tone, a velvet upholstered sofa and artisan wood slice coffee table adds charm to space by creating a delightful and relaxing environment in the living room. The Pistachio Green wall behind the sofa enhances the look of furniture pieces with a Kerala art wall picture. Lighter shades in the space with little brighter furniture helps to create a serene environment in the only gathering space of the house. While the TV unit wall is highlighted with a white 3d brick design which compliments the open shelves and console unit.
The dining area has two chairs in velvet upholstered with a window bay sitting and a teak wood dining table highlighted with wooden framing. While a checker curtain makes the dining area more unique and elegant. By adding focus spot light, it gives an elegant look to the dining area with a Pistachio green wall. The rustic grey tile helps to reflect light and give an airy look to the décor.
The contrast of the Pistachio green wall against the Spanish kitchen tiles, against the rustic grey flooring added a touch of coziness and rustic warmth to the interior. Cream blind curtain with black granite framing compliments the wall tile and teakwood furnish. While the upper white cabinet is highlighted with wooden framing, creating an eye-catching for visitors. A white top kitchen platform and cabinets with inbuilt handle looks simple and elegant.
The master bedroom plays with a hue of colours such as pistachio green, white and grey to make the room more elegant. A concealed sliding teak wood wardrobe with inbuilt handles gives a graceful outlook due to the green wall. Texture wallpaper highlighted with strip light just compliments the wooden bed furnishings. While blob pendent lights on both side tables give a luxurious look to the bedroom and a white curtain accentuates the décor of the space. Bed in teak wood creates elegancy as its base is highlighted with the bright light. Mirror and shelves are enhancing due to wooden ceiling belt with mini conceal light.
The ANS Design House thought process while designing was extremely simple but they strived to create a profound experience with this house as designers truly believe that we humans need to demand the best from all our living environments. The rugs, cushions, paintings, and artefacts have all been selected, keeping the traditional Indian aesthetic in mind, but designers have tried to use them in a fresher and more contemporary way.
