Located in the heart of the city, this 1500 Sq. Ft. apartment is more than just a residence, it’s a gift from the clients to their parents, in their hometown, Udaipur. As the name suggests, ‘Modern roots’ elegantly intertwines traditional elements with the contemporary. Every corner of this house is carefully crafted and curated in a way that the intricate details of the bygone era infuses seamlessly with the contemporary elements. The design is essentially a transition between modern, minimalist and classical styles.
Upon entrance, the bespoke console table in rich red is a statement piece juxtaposed against the rather subtle wall, adding to the visual theatrics. The vibrant foyer then leads into the common areas of living followed by dining lying adjacent to the kitchen highlighting its strategic arrangement.
The palette comprises a muted base, featuring beige-white flooring, teak and sheesham furniture and accents. Complemented further by warm white and soft beige wall paints paired with vibrant colours in textures and finishes, it forms rich contrast and captivating focal points.
The apartment possesses a compact spatial layout, with furniture from The Jodhpur Company designed for open spaces and guided circulation.
LIVING ROOM AND DINING
Full-length windows spanning across the dining and living, draped in gauzy sheers, softly filters in ample diffused light. The vintage chesterfield, in blue, is paired with warm tones of wooden textures in walnut finish. This monochromatic palette is contrasted with the mid-century modern butterfly lounge chairs in soft pink. To complement the rich classical aesthetic of the furniture, the walls are adorned with intricate moldings.
MASTER BEDROOM
In the master bedroom, textural rattan and wooden furniture in oak wood finish is juxtaposed against the bright blue wall, forming a beautiful symphony of the old and the new. The bold statement wall is adorned with pop moldings and grooving along with wooden panels on either side with wall lights to highlight it as a feature element.
PARENTS BEDROOM
Designed on a similar trajectory as the master bedroom, the parent’s bedroom has an accentuated shade of pastel green. The vintage bed with brown leather furnishings complements the aesthetic simultaneously. The primary wall is adorned with intricate moldings in order to curate a focal point while highlighting the vintage curves of the bed’s head rest.

The elegant modern residence is designed by YM Design Studios led by Ar. Yashasvi Maheshwary in Udaipur. Designers played with colours and style in a way that every corner of this house looks interesting. There are stylish furniture, attractive pieces of artwork, bold shades on the wall, and colourful doors and curtains. The home has come out with a lively combination of dark and light shades. It is amazing to see different shades and tones coming together to form a beautiful ambience.
A combination of modern and pleasant interior concepts makes this place a perfect abode. Everything is effortlessly beautiful in this house, especially the wall décor with a classic touch. The design intends to open up and function existing volumes by bringing in additional natural light, creating ample storage and utilising a combination of colours, textures, geometry, and natural materials to achieve a dignified space offering pleasure to its residents.
