Situated on the 18th floor, this 1,020 sq. ft. apartment, designed by Anmol Waychal Architects (Led by Ar. Anmol Waychal) in association with Studio Two Bricks (Led by Ar.Prashant katkade), is a tranquil blend of Scandinavian minimalism and Bohemian warmth. Located in Magarpatta, Pune, The Scandinavian Retreat is a residence designed for a millennial corporate couple. It offers an urban sanctuary that seamlessly combines artistic simplicity with inviting comfort, making it the perfect retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. From soft hues to natural textures, the interior exudes a refined yet welcoming atmosphere, offering an immersive experience of calm and serenity within the bustling city.
The Principal Architects shares that the primary goal was to craft a comforting environment that serves as an escape from the frenetic outside world. Every corner is designed to radiate warmth and ease, with the studio’s signature curves adding fluidity that breaks away from the rigidity of conventional lines. This subtle, organic movement within the design enhances the sense of relaxation and creates a visually soft and welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors alike.
Welcoming Entrance
The entrance sets a refined tone for the home with a fluted panel console unit, creating a striking focal point that combines texture with functionality. Above the console, a curved modern mirror adds both depth and visual interest, its organic form echoing the studio’s love for soft, flowing lines. Carefully curated artefacts on the console bring a personal touch, adding warmth and character to the entryway. This thoughtfully designed space not only serves as a welcoming transition but also introduces guests to the sophisticated simplicity that flows throughout the home.
Refined Drawing Room
The drawing room embodies the Scandinavian aesthetic with clean lines, neutral tones, and thoughtfully chosen furnishings. Soft fabrics and natural materials create a relaxed and cosy atmosphere, while the studio’s signature curved elements bring a gentle fluidity to the space. Large windows allow natural light to flood the room, accentuating the minimalist décor and making the area feel open and airy. With simple yet sophisticated details, this room becomes a serene space for relaxation and casual gatherings, offering an effortless charm that appeals to both residents and visitors.
The living area showcases a modern, cosy setup with a large, L-shaped grey sofa that provides ample seating, ideal for both relaxation and social gatherings. Complemented by floor-length curtains in a subtle colour palate, which anchors the room with its understated elegance. A sleek, wall-mounted TV unit sits against a fluted panel backdrop, adding texture and visual interest to the space. Decorative plants bring a refreshing, natural element, while the unique, arched console cabinet on the adjacent wall adds functional storage and an artistic touch, enhancing the room’s modern aesthetic.
