Tress Lounge : A Luxury Salon Reinventing Spatial Constraints | La Luna Design House | Panchkula
The salon is made in a seemingly empty mall with a host of design challenges. The bigger challenge was that the salon had to be profitable in a seemingly secluded and empty mall. The salon has been an astounding success for a location with very less footfall; in the first two months of its inception. For maximum visibility the façade is transparent and the space is also accessible from outside the mall.
Nestled within an underutilized mall in Panchkula, Tress Lounge is a striking example of how thoughtful design can transform the most challenging spaces. The 1050 sq. ft. property came with a host of constraints—misaligned walls, irregular angles, and structural limitations that prevented ceiling work. Despite these hurdles, the salon was designed and completed in just three months, emerging as a seamless blend of functionality, elegance, and warmth.

Design Concept: A Flowing, Cohesive Experience
The design language of Tress Lounge is centred around fluidity and spatial harmony. The soft blue wave-like partitions subtly guide movement through the space, creating a sense of organic flow while visually defining different zones. These curves counteract the rigid geometry of the existing structure, introducing a sense of ease and continuity.

The color palette of muted blues and warm beiges evokes tranquility and sophistication, striking a balance between modern luxury and inviting comfort. The contrast of cool and warm tones ensures that the space feels fresh and uplifting, yet grounded in warmth.

Flooring as a Defining Element
Flooring plays a crucial role in zoning the space without physical barriers. The reception area features a delicate herringbone pattern in soft blue, creating an inviting first impression, while the hair styling zone transitions into a checkered beige-and-blue pattern. This subtle shift in flooring serves as a visual cue, intuitively differentiating functions without disrupting the salon’s openness.

Uninterrupted Sightlines & Spatial Transparency
A key design intention was to maintain unhindered visual connectivity. From one end of the salon to the other, the entire space remains fully visible, free of obstructions or visual clutter. This openness enhances the sense of spaciousness, making the salon feel far larger than its 1050 sq. ft. footprint. Carefully placed mirrors, reflective surfaces, and curved partitions work together to guide the eye effortlessly across the space, reinforcing a sense of depth and continuity.

Lighting as an Architectural Feature
Given the absence of ceiling modifications, lighting was designed as an expressive, sculptural element. Suspended LED strips flow across the ceiling like delicate strokes of light, echoing the salon’s fluid design language. This not only illuminates the space effectively but also acts as a dynamic visual feature, adding movement and energy to the interiors.

A Space Reborn
Despite its location in a largely unoccupied mall, Tress Lounge has transformed a difficult property into a vibrant, high-end destination. The project demonstrates that even the most unconventional spaces can be redefined through clever zoning, material play, and a deep understanding of spatial dynamics. It’s not just a salon—it’s a design statement.

Interior Lover Team’s view on the Project
Nestled in English International Mall, Panchkula, Contours and Contrast – a luxury salon, knotted by La Luna Design House and led by Ar. Shalu Gupta redefines spatial challenges with a design that is both fluid and immersive. A thoughtful interplay of curved partitions, reflective surfaces, and a harmonious palette creates a seamless visual experience, evoking elegance and tranquillity. Soft, flowing forms counterbalance the structural rigidity, fostering a sense of openness and continuity. The strategic use of materials and textures enhances depth while maintaining an inviting atmosphere.

Lighting, designed as an expressive element, introduces movement and energy, elevating the ambiance with sculptural precision. Without altering the existing structure, the design achieves a refined spatial identity, making the most of its footprint. The meticulous approach to zoning ensures effortless functionality while preserving transparency, amplifying the perception of space. This transformation exemplifies how intuitive design can transcend limitations, shaping an environment that is not just aesthetically striking but also commercially successful. The result is a sophisticated retreat that harmonizes luxury with purposeful design, setting a new benchmark for contemporary interiors.
