The Nook | Modframes | Pune
The Nook is a breezy 1250 sq.ft apartment located in the town of lakes Talegaon, Pune which is subtly inspired by the shades of spring.
The Nook is a humble abode for a father-daughter duo, the task was to create a cozy home simultaneously creating a space that could collectively embrace equal parts living and work from home.
The brief was simple and straightforward—earthy with a hint of tropical. The mood board of the home draws inspiration from surrounding lush green hills & calming lakes recreating its soft pastel palette with lively green accents. The seamless blend of rustic wooden textures with fine detail additions & white washed walls speaks of the owners penchant for earthy elements in design.
The blissful charm of tropical landscapes often subconsciously trickle into our visual aesthetic. Modframes tried to design in correspondence with the context, we tried incorporating various pastel colors inspired from nature, creating a warm and welcoming approach.
The choice of décor, furniture arrangement and the overall articulation of the living room affords it a snug, warm ambience, perfect for intimate conversations. In the event of a larger gathering the sliding doors can be opened up, allowing the living area to spill outdoors thus expanding the space to host more people and offering a leisurely indoor-outdoor setting. To bask in the abundant sunlight and greenery at its doorstep, the living room is supported by large sliding doors that spill onto a balcony, inviting nature in. This house echoes a minimalistic style, allowing the dweller to connect with the outside splendour of the hills instead of being overpowered by the interiors.
As we run through the entrance, the rattan baskets embellished with mirrors attract ones view & welcomes you into the home. The living room hosts a lot of functions such as a full store library & reading corner, a quaint multifunctional dining area & a cozy couch enjoying the view of hills outdoors. You can surely enjoy reading your favourite book here as you sip on hot coffee enjoying the lush green surroundings & fresh air.
The kitchen is a retro inspired look promising to be soothing to the eyes. The laminate & glass profile shutter combination is a classic & provides for a fully functional parallel kitchen. The speciality of the kitchen is its mood board- majority being in single colour, the use of glass and white washed walls keep the uncluttered look for the kitchen alive.
Further leading to the bedrooms, the passage gracefully captures a snapshot of the master bedroom. The bedrooms are completely derived & designed as per client needs yet keeping the room feel lighter by choosing pastel accents and keeping the wardrobe’s subtle as they majorly form part of fixed furniture.
The master bedroom has a accent wall with WPC panelling and a golden edge band to complete the look. The tiny golden bedside lamps add to the aesthetics of the bedroom giving it a cozy feeling. A deep grooved pattern with golden edge band is incorporated for wardrobes in the master bedroom with a multifunctional dressing unit. The groove detail on the wardrobe shutters is carefully crafted and hand done to match the laminate finish. The hardware simply just adds to the beauty of the wardrobe ditching the typical long door handles, the small door knobs finish the look of the wardrobe keeping the focus on the grooved detail.
A mix of luxury & simple colour play formulate an elegantly quirky ensemble in the Nook. Designing this home has been a great learning experience and is definitely a designers dream to work on. The Nook promises a cozy comfortable stay for its homeowners & nestled between nature is definitely a plus to make one happy.
