Soft Modernism | Sachin Design Studio | Mumbai
This ‘Soft Modernism’ 3BHK, 1000 sq.ft. apartment in Borivali, Mumbai, was envisioned and executed by Sachin Vaghadiya, Principal Designer at Sachin Design Studio.
The client discovered us via Instagram, drawn to our clean, contemporary aesthetic. Their brief called for a clutter-free, low-maintenance home grounded in timeless, natural finishes—all within a conscious budget.
We responded with a neutral yet richly textured palette that flows cohesively across the home. Statuario marble flooring establishes a bright, elegant base, allowing layered materials and quiet forms to emerge.
The living and dining areas maintain tonal harmony through beige-toned upholstery, warm wood cabinetry, and soft gold accents. Highlights include a Brazilian quartzite-topped centre table and a bold natural stone TV backdrop that anchors the space without overwhelming it.
In the kitchen, functionality meets refinement with ICA laminated shutters, soft gold profile handles, and a marble-look quartz backsplash that wraps the space in visual continuity. One of our favorite elements is the sculptural pooja unit in matte metallic champagne, mounted beside the dining space—designed with traditional Indian motifs to serve as both sacred and statement-worthy.
Each bedroom was designed to reflect its occupant’s lifestyle while maintaining the home’s cohesive material story:
The master bedroom is a serene retreat with fluted wall paneling, a fully upholstered bed, and a cozy marble-lined window ledge that invites quiet city gazing.
The parents’ bedroom is intentionally simple and comfort-driven—anchored by a wide padded headboard and a soothing palette that echoes the home’s overall material richness.
The son’s bedroom takes on a youthful tone, with herringbone wood paneling, soft grey accents, and an expansive window that maximizes natural light.
Bathrooms feature Kohler fixtures and Simpolo tiles for durability and ease of upkeep. A personalized detail at the entrance—fluted marble framing and greenery surrounding a backlit nameplate—sets the tone for the warm, bespoke experience inside.
Interior Lover team’s view on the project
Set within the urban area of Borivali, Mumbai, this 1000 sq. ft. 3BHK apartment, knotted by Sachin Vaghadiya, Principal Designer at Sachin Design Studio, embodies the refined essence of Soft Modernism. The design theme revolves around a minimalist, clutter-free lifestyle enriched by warm textures and natural finishes. A base of Statuario marble flooring lends the home an airy elegance, while thoughtfully layered elements—such as Brazilian quartzite, fluted wall panels, and herringbone wood accents—infuse depth and character.
The palette remains muted and sophisticated, with beige tones, soft greys, and subtle metallic highlights contributing to a seamless visual rhythm. Every space, from the calming bedrooms to the functional yet graceful kitchen, reflects a balance of utility and understated luxury. Details like a sculptural pooja unit in matte champagne metal and a distinctive fluted marble entry enhance the home’s quiet opulence.
Designed entirely in-house, this project integrates material consistency and timeless appeal to craft a home that feels both grounded and contemporary. “Soft Modernism” stands as a thoughtful response to modern urban living, merging style and sensibility within a considered and cohesive framework.

About Sachin Design Studio
Sachin Design Studio, founded by principal designer Sachin Vaghadiya in 2012, is a Mumbai-based interior design practice known for crafting spaces that are both architecturally precise and luxuriously understated. Based in Kandivali and supported by a team of 10 professionals, the studio works across residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors—delivering interiors that fuse contemporary minimalism, refined material palettes, and functional elegance.
Over the past decade, we have completed a wide range of high-quality projects, though we have intentionally maintained a low presence on social media.
