Architect Asra Khateeb was challenged with increasing both space and light in this petite abode. The brief was to convert their compact three bedroom apartment into a luxurious apartment with a flexible guest bedroom. The Mumbai based design studio is highly experienced in crafting contemporary tailored design solutions.
One element of the house we would like to talk about is our Living room and Guest bedroom Lights. it is from a brand named Focus Lights. their lights are so small that the ceiling look bare and contemporary. it can go from 2000 kelvin to 8000 kelvin in no time.It is dimmable and tuneable both. This really sets up the mood of the space on just one touch from your home. and how can we miss Flos Chandelier which is the highlight of the dining area.
Foyer
Using white Wpvc panelling and a metal console we tried to create a space which is inviting. we even managed a shoe rack in the foyer area which is flushed in the wall. It is difficult for a layman to spot the door of the shoe rack.
Living Room & Dining room
There are very few homes that are so bright and welcoming. This flat design incorporates eclectic patterns and colours that your eyes can feast on. it has a breathtaking view of the cityscapes along with it one can also enjoy the evening cool breeze and the warmth from the early morning sun.
Modern furniture set with metal centre and side table is adding value to the design. by mixing the materials such as wood, pac, marble and metal we have achieved a whole matt look for this particular house.
The view of the house has defined the planning solutions of rooms and the choice of color scheme. Natural light shades with a light accent create a soft, calm background that acts calmly and does not distract from the window view. By combining shades of Pink, Green, and Blue the designer created a 1100 sq.ft well zoned, bright space for a young couple and a son.
We have refurbished a 15 year old dining table into a new one with CorIan material. It has uplifted the entire dining table set. Chairs are small in height by keeping the apartments size. It has a Back drop which is a set of paintings which completely compliment the entire space.
Outdoor
Main grey door is the part of the theme. Classic yet Contemporary.
Passage
Narrow passages are panelled with un even grid champagne tinted mirror opposite window to get light inside the house as per clients brief.
Using colour maliciously, Interior Architect and Designer Asra Khateeb from LC Architects talks about the project in which Grey-Blue Background harmoniously combines with bright sky and scenic view.
Master Bedroom
We have kept master bedroom very cozy and calming. Everything about this pillow showcases out obsession with pretty textiles from the yarn-dyed texture to the playful prints and relaxed linen based. The details required expert craftsmanship and extra time to produce, but we think the results were well worth it.
With a dark green Rocking chair we have created a reading corner. Button. tufting and textured wood legs give our rocking chair English-inspired style. Wide enough to seat a mother with a baby. Adjacent to the rocking chair we have a sliding door to enter the walk in wardrobe.
Walk In Wardrobe
Walk in Entry has Mirror Panelled White Pu finish door from Aristo. We have created 2 wardrobes with a dressing unit in the walk In area. Full height dressing mirror adds space to the walk in area.Colour scheme of the space is derived from living room itself. Wardrobe doors are also from Aristo Doors. 2nd wardrobe space we got it from breaking the master bedroom wall. we had to let go shower space from the master bathroom to get 2nd small wardrobe.
Master Bathroom
We designed this space with raw finish grey tiles on the wall and floor and even painted the ceiling grey. keeping it clean and even we have used tall wash basin with Kohler Cp Fittings in Matt colour. All storages we have achieved in Black Powder coated metal bars which is suspended from the ceiling as our floor space was less. Arched mirror with metal frame also adds character to the space.
Kids bedroom
It was designed for a 1 year old boy. initially we decided on a space themed kids bedroom. We have zoned the bedroom as per the activity. To make the room look bigger and spacious we have tried to use white colour and to add character.
We have added a pattern on the wallpaper. If we talk about the wardrobe, we have designed a full height 5 door wardrobe with open space below the shutters so that he can save toys and books below. things have to be handy at this age. Functionality was the priority.
We have a custom made extendable bed in white colour and the background of the space is of cloud wallpaper which fits in perfectly with the theme from Maimoon Decor. We have designed a kids play area which consists of Macaroon Swing, Climbing Wall, Ladders which are fixed to the ceiling as well as on a wall. We also recommended adding a soft flooring or a large cushion on the floor. While we talk about the Play area we also have Study Area next to it where we have designed a Hut space board which can be used as white board or black board depending on the kid’s mood and activity and next to it is placed a study table and chairs for his friends if there is a gathering. To complement the opposite cloud wallpaper. We have placed a star patterned wallpaper on the wall. Entire Flooring is grey wooden flooring and play matt for the kid.
On the ceiling we have used fibre Optics lights to further create the impact following the theme. We have also put a star theme tent in the corner for him to read and relax under it.
Kids Bathroom
It was real fun when we started designing a bathtub for the young child. We knew we had to make bath time fun so we needed a bathtub.
We knew a standard readily available bathtub would not fit in so we had to custom made it for him on site. We even followed the theme of white in the bathroom and to add a little pattern we added terrazzo tiles on the floor. Tiles are 3d printed to bring out the character. We had made bath time epic with the creative bath toys.
Guest bedroom
The Guest room is done in cool colours with playful touches of pink and beige, and using contrasting materials such as concrete textured walls, wood panelling and marble. Also we broke open L shape wall to make the space look spacious and inviting to the guest on any occasion.
One part of the sliding door flushes inside the tv wall unit and other forms backing for the wardrobe. Concrete finish texture paint with bird artefacts add character to the room. Furnishings are from AA living which is completing the colour scheme of the entire house.
In the guest bathroom there is a gorgeous variation in blues which are a result of randomly mixing stonewashed, dark and vintage washed tiles. We designed this bold guest bathroom using raw textured and rusted tiles. All the fittings are from Kohler in rose gold share. we even placed a half circle mirror to add character.
An Apartment with Light filled in, luxurious modern home interiors with Chic modern decor and high end furnitures is located in the heart of Mumbai city. While working on the project, it became clear that they do not mind experimenting with unusual color combinations for them to make each room get its own history, but at the same time it all fits together into a harmonious picture.
Lighting from various brands exudes contemporary glamour. Natural lighting bathes the space through floor to ceiling glazing, acting as an asset in which subtle features and surfaces anchor themselves.
