Minimal Abode | Bluedot Design | Mumbai
This warm, minimal home thrives in the heart of South Mumbai. The family was clear they wanted to do away with clutter—both physical and visual and emphasize more clean, neat, minimalist, large, airy spaces.

The entrance passage was designed to set the tone for the rest of your home, understated, minimalist, and subtle. The storage units along the wall amplify the room’s length. The bright chairs pop against the space’s white, and brown palette. The long entrance passage gives enough privacy to the rest of the home and that allowed us to plan an open concept kitchen. The idea was to eliminate the barrier between the central living area and cooking space, making entertaining or socializing with the rest of the family more accessible while whipping up meals. The island unit in teakwood with brass inlay duals up as a breakfast counter for a quick meal.

One of the most frequented spots in the home—to be rivalled only by the kitchen is the living room. The crisp white walls are anchored by the beige sofa and tan leather chairs, creating an oasis of simplicity, ease, and eclecticism. With a neutral backdrop, the gorgeous travertine feature wall mixes up the finishes incorporating copper trim along with grey grout, effortlessly bringing in a luxurious as well as classic look.

With space becoming an absolute premium in modern homes, the decision to combine the guest room with the home office is indeed a smart one. This is what we did with this brightly lit home office, creating a perfect place to think, work, and house guests. A minimal look with grey and oak cabinets on one wall that houses all the storage and library along with a wall bed and sofa for the guests to relax. The large L-shaped wood and metal study facing the window became a perfect well-lit workspace for the client.

“Form follows function” – That’s how the bedrooms in this house are designed. There is no more sophisticated shade than beige & brown, as evidenced in this South Mumbai family residence. The bedroom walls are covered in base white, allowing the rest of the furniture to stand out in an understated manner. The custom bed’s headboard, beneath an artwork by is upholstered in brown leatherette and accentuate with brass metal elements. Bedside lamps can be nice, but they take up room on the nightstand, so we planned for ceiling hanging lights to compliment the rest of the décor.

A chic tufted window seat adds to the relaxing atmosphere of the room. All play and no work, is not how our clients are. She needed a work desk in the room for herself, which would not stand out but at the same time is functional and blends with the room décor. We created a work desk with glass storage which turned into a TV ledge and a dressing space. An optimal use of space without crowding up the room. What more would you want.
