SDA (Studio Design Atelier) Office | Studio Design Atelier | Ahmedabad

The spatial creative catalyst office islocated on C.G Road, Ahmedabad, and the interior design studio for inter-disciplinary architecture nested by Studio Design Atelier. Designers’ team by themselves ornated this office spaces which makes prime important for them to nestled their own SDA office in an eclectic manner. It is designed to be a 1900 sq. ft., area with an open layout that reflects the firm’s commitment to designing spatial experiences with strategies that enhance lives with this office design. The design has been devised by tracking the habitual movement of the various end-users of the space, which helps with the zoning while maintaining function, privacy, and aesthetics in spatial planning.

According to The Principal Architect, Aatman Modi that“A workspace demands Life” – The idea of an office has come a long way from rigid cubicles and bare walls. In today’s time, an office demands vibrance where users feel lively and keep up their energy levels high. In this project, all the furniture & interior elements are custom-made to fit the space perfectly. The interiors have a bold contemporary look & feel with cues from the exclusive design style to create a unique playful blend.

Waiting Lounge

As lively as it can be! The first thing that strikes a visitor in this waiting lounge is the yellow décor elements on the concrete wall. As said every space has its own stories which can be related to the decor. Inspired by this, a color tone has been used for the signage of SDA with ruler linings in a black metal framing screen of partition to enact transparency. A royal sky blue sitting and a modern coffee table stand out on the selected grey flooring. While focus light fixtures were highlighting the area, also add points to the mood.

Work Station Area and Discussion Area

The material palette is fresh and modern with earthy elements in the workstation area. The entire workspace revolves around the contemporary use of natural materials. Blind curtains and elegant ceiling décor with linear lighting fixtures add rhythm to the wooden furniture. While five emojis face wall art makes it a focal point while entering this area. The motto while designing this space was to create a pleasant ambiance that motivates the design team.

The workspace and discussion area merge elegantly but in a modern way. Both the discussion area and staff area merge into one another offering a feel of “OPEN OFFICE”. Pops of yellow shelves to showcase their rewards were accentuated with wooden cabinets. Designers smartly add whiteboards to write all the things related to their work and complement the wooden desk. While one wall is highlighted their ongoing projects detail with modern touch. For discussion, a huge table and modern heightened chairs were placed in the center of this area.

Creatively designers customized a discussion table with a white top where the staff members can discuss freely on it by using it for a writing or drawing purpose. While a series of modern lighting fixtures on it gives a classic look to that area.

Designer’s Cabin

The creative designer’s cabin has a minimal look and feels with importance given to the woodwork desk with a black metal base. It is partially separated by a metal frame glass partition elegantly. A Modern velvet upholstery sofa and a floating light fixture add charm to this space. While light blue back painted glass paneling with palm print in brown creates an eye-catchy element.

Principal Architect’s Cabin

This area is the Brain of the office and hence the idea was to keep it as exceptional and eye-soothing furnishing. The smartly creative wall décor gives a feeling of an architectural firm office. It is well décor with standard units of furniture on the concrete wall by the designer team itself.

A Classic stone table top and a concrete theme base give a stunning look with modern chairs which are complemented by floated a lighting fixture. The showcase unit with abstract décor, artifacts, and wall painting creates an eye-catchy element.

The main cabin has an attached informal meeting space, which is separated by a sliding glass metal framing partition. The casual meeting space feels full of life with bold use of colors and a mix of light and dark in seating elements. Two elegant low sitting with a wooden platform and a center table accentuated with artwork add to the gracefulness of the space.

Overall, The design of the office is an interior play that creates an aura of energy through the form and the materials. Studio Design Atelier aims to provide a space that fosters architectural dialogue, creativity, and design; with unfolding and unscrambling spaces, the design of the office intends to connect users. Architects believe one must also feel the materials and their authenticity. This office encourages open conversation and collaboration across teams and is playing a large role in creating a new creative work culture for the firm and its team.

Here, The Principal Designer, Neha Mody believes that creatively using a green product can reduce the carbon footprint substantially which follows in her own office. And the following are the key points that were shared by the architect:

  1. Electricity Saving: Input value (in KWh/Yr) X 0.85 (Emission Factor) = Output value in (Kg of CO2)
  2. For 1000 sq. ft carpet space AC consumes approx. 10 kw/hr while our air cooler consumes 1kw/hr. Hence it saves about 9kw/hr of electricity.
  3. Assuming 9kw x 8 hrs a day x 250 working days of summer, annual electrical savings are 18000 kWh (units of electricity) saved / year. This is equivalent to saving almost 15.3 tonnes of carbon emissions per year in a small office space like ours.
  4. If all users start thinking and adopting passive cooling without blindly following air-conditioning (primarily developed for the Western world), huge energy can be saved globally.
  5. Any conventional building uses about 40% of its energy consumption to cool the premises, which can be reduced to 4% by using passive cooling.
