Caprica Lifetech Office – An Ode to Openness | Insight Interiors | Ahmedabad
The idea of an office has come an extensive way from earthy material palettes and modernist elements. In today’s time, an office demands vibrance where users feel lively and keep up their energy levels high. This commercial office project is well-knotted by the interior design firm Insight Interiors in Ahmedabad. All the furniture & interior elements are custom-made to fit the space perfectly. The interiors have a bold contemporary look & feel with cues from the elegant design style to create a unique playful blend.
The Principal Designer stated that Caprica Lifetech is a company that makes organic bio-chemical fertilizers. The clients wanted a clutter-free, open, and modern office space with maximum ceiling height retained, wherever possible. They also wanted the possibility to connect the two directors’ cabins, whenever required, for easy access during internal meetings and discussions.
Concept of the office interior theme that the bid was to create a clean and minimal-looking space, visually avoiding clutter in every sense. A theme of openness is predominant throughout the space and different strategies are employed to make it appear more spacious and expansive. Taking inspiration from the very nature of the company itself, the color scheme comprises a neutral and earthy palette – a healthy mix of whites, greys, and browns, adding ‘lightness’ to the space.
Steering clear of bulky details, the furniture features clean lines and is finished in veneer with wooden legs for a lightweight design. Display-cum-storage units feature a combination of open-shelving and shutters – to display products while also keeping office supplies out of sight.
Straying away from solid and heavy enclosures, the space features minimum partitions which are easy on the eyes. See-through wooden rafter partitions, for instance, form the backdrop of the reception area and also appear in the workstation area. The peekaboo effect of these partitions adds an element of continuity and connectedness to the space, making it appear roomier and more open. A soundproof partition in wood and fluted glass separates the director’s cabins from the rest of the areas adding a distinct airiness to the space.
Ample of natural light dances on the vertical grooves of the fluted glass and filters into the cabins. A sliding-folding fluted glass and wooden partition separates the two director’s cabins. Adding ease of flexibility and convenience and reinstating the theme of openness, this feature makes the space conducive to spontaneous conversations – discussions between the directors are just a slide and fold away.
Unsightly services like sprinklers, A.C. pipes, and electrical conduits are neatly tucked away inside pockets of false ceiling – a mix of wooden rafters and gypsum, leaving the remaining ceiling open, in order to maximize height. This ceiling pattern has been used in several other areas of the office to tactfully elevate the space. As another example of concealed services, the A.C. unit in the director’s cabins is tucked away at the entrance to the cabins. With the bulkiest drop in the false ceiling out of the way, the rest of the cabin appears roomier and more spacious.
Owing to the linear elements used in the design, the airy and light material choices, the unobtrusive storage design, and the strategically designed false ceiling, the space stays true to its vision.
Design process
Strategic planning was at the forefront of the design process. The layout was planned to ensure that the spatial segregation and circulation were devoid of any visual chaos, clutter, and stark obstructions. Moving on, the material selections were focused on colors, textures, treatments, and qualities that contributed to the clutter-free, modern, and open narrative of the space.
Interior Lover Team’s view on the Project
A Design built on a principle of simplicity and honesty, Insight Interiors nested this commercial office in Ahmedabad which is a balance between the practical and transcendental criteria through constant re-invention in the interior space. Featuring partition walls and a monochrome palette, the design proposal excluded the use of decorative materials and prioritized minimalism over glitzy design. The design has special attention to the materials used in the making which ensure durability, uniqueness, and timelessness. All of the spaces connected with the creation of an earthy palette and simplicity become a highlight in itself.
The office space above everything else serves its purpose of bringing together people and aspires to set an example of how minimal design extrudes maximal experiences. This workspace was created with the idea of natural, fresh decor that is eye-soothing and pleasing decor. The introduction of soft and gentle clean lines achieves a perfect balance between the grey color palette and the volume of the furniture. The free-flow pattern ultimately smoothens the user’s vision and depicts the continuity and grace of the office space.
