The House of Terraces, located in Hosapete, Karnataka, is a spacious 8,000 sq. ft. residence designed by Akshata Shenoy Design Studio, ( led by Ar. Akshata Shenoy ) and Studio HC ( led by Ar. Hemanth C. ) Created for a multigenerational family, the home beautifully balances modern minimalism with traditional warmth, offering a harmonious living environment that caters to the diverse needs of its residents.
Terracotta and wooden textures are thoughtfully integrated throughout, adding a sense of comfort and timelessness to this residential project. The residence features expansive living spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows, open-plan dining and kitchen areas, and serene bedrooms. Well-placed skylights in this residence fill the interior with natural light, enhancing the connection to the outdoors and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all family members.
The Principal Architects of both the firm shares that the client wanted a home that felt modern yet still connected to tradition. They envisioned a space where all family members, young and old, could feel comfortable. The client requested open areas for family time and quiet corners for privacy. They also wanted the use of natural materials and warm colours to create a cosy atmosphere. Their love for natural light influenced the design, leading to large windows and skylights throughout the home.
The exterior of the House of Terraces has a modern and clean design. The building is painted white, giving it a fresh and bright look. It has multiple levels with wide balconies, allowing plenty of outdoor space for relaxing. Large windows cover many parts of the house, bringing in lots of natural light and offering great views of the surroundings. The metal railings and overhead canopies give the home a stylish, modern touch. The design also includes some plants and greenery, which adds a soft and natural feel to the strong lines of the building. The exterior lighting highlights the home’s clean lines and modern design, creating a warm and inviting ambience at night.
Welcoming Entrance
Stepping onto the outdoor deck, guests are greeted by a tranquil foyer full of natural light from a striking skylight. The space features an eye-catching geometric metal partition that elegantly divides areas while adding visual interest. The entrance features a grand wooden door adorned with a striking golden curved theme handle, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the home’s design. Upon entering, a beautifully designed terracotta-tiled wall serves a dual purpose as both storage and a stylish TV unit, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Retreat Living Area
The heart of the home is the double-height living area, defined by floor-to-ceiling windows that invite natural light and stunning northern views. A striking staircase, integrated as a built-in bench, enhances both form and function. The terracotta-tiled backdrop adds warmth, while a wooden ceiling with a geometric pendant light creates a sophisticated focal point.
Complementing this elegant space are soft-toned upholstery sofas that provide comfort, a sleek modern table for gatherings, and a stylish TV unit that seamlessly integrates into the overall design. The living area ornate carefully selected artefacts that add character and charm, complemented by elegant curtains that gracefully frame the windows, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space.
Contemporary Dining Area
The open-plan kitchen and dining area, adorned in muted greys and woods, promotes easy flow for family gatherings. A stunning long grey curtain lighting feature hangs above the modern wooden dining table with a glass top, casting a warm glow over shared meals. Soft-toned chairs around the table provide comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere for gatherings in this elegant interior area.
Aesthetic Kitchen
The open-plan kitchen exudes warmth and simplicity, featuring wooden and soft grey-toned cabinets that blend seamlessly with the earthy-toned platform. This muted palette, paired with clean lines, creates a space that feels pleasing yet modern. The design encourages an effortless flow between cooking and dining, making it perfect for family gatherings and everyday functionality while maintaining a refined aesthetic.
Allure Mandir Area
The mandir area showcases a serene yet elegant design, with a marble-clad backdrop providing a pristine setting for devotion. The wooden batten ceiling adds a touch of warmth, harmonizing beautifully with the space. A marble base for idols enhances the calm environment, while a classic wooden door with intricate decor completes the look, blending tradition with subtle luxury, and offering a peaceful retreat for spiritual moments.

Skylights in the central Brahmasthana and stairwell infuse the interiors with dynamic light, ensuring the home remains bright and inviting throughout the day. The infusion of light highlights the wooden elements used as eye-catching decor, from the sleek staircase railing to accent walls and furniture. These wooden features add warmth and texture, complementing the open, airy layout and enhancing the home’s dynamic and welcoming feel.
Bedroom
The bedroom exudes a calm and cosy atmosphere, featuring a bed with a sleek wooden headrest that adds warmth to the space. A round wooden side table complements the design, offering a practical yet stylish touch. The window bay sitting area provides a perfect nook for relaxation, while the different style curtains gracefully frame the windows, enhancing the room’s elegant charm. This thoughtful combination of elements creates a serene and inviting retreat for rest and comfort.
Master Bedroom
The bedroom’s interior design blends elegance and warmth through its well-chosen materials and furniture. A lavish wooden batten backdrop highlights the bed, presenting a stunning yet peaceful focal point.
